What role are they recruiting for? Have they stated what skills/qualifications are needed?0

i think its just general recruiting.0

If it's for an entry level role (counter clerk or telephone banking agent) then they will probably look for customer service experience. When I joined the bank 15 years ago I also had to pass a numeracy test, although recent experience tells me that may no longer be a requirement

If it's for a more specialist role such as Financial Advisor or Mortgage Advisor they would probably expect you to have the relevant qualifications.
I don't want to put you off applying, but competition for jobs is very tough at the moment. I know of one branch which had over 50 CVs handed in when they put a notice in the window advertising for a part time cashier. If you don't have any relevant experience, it might be hard to get an interview.
Good luck if you do decide to apply.0 -

You don't need banking experience.
If you have good people skills, sales skills, attention to detail, and experience in customer service type roles and using computers I'd say you'd have a good chance. You just have to prove yourself in the interview.
Good luck

Assuming it's a branch role there are two main criteria:
1) The ability to deliver half decent customer service.
2) The ability to generate leads / sell products.
It's extraordinarily rare for branch staff to be made redundant.0 -
All you need to do is be able to recite the following line:
"There's a note on your account here. The branch manager wants to see you for an account review..."
And then respond to the word "no" with a look on your face that you'd normally save only for when someone kicks a puppy.0 -
plus points: decent job security, sounds good to most people to say you work in a bank, gives you good people experience, decent bonuses and perks if you perform well, gives you good feeling after a good day
down points: low pay, high pressure to sell to targets even to customers who you may feel would not benefit, large amount of micro management and interference0
