    Hello all

Just spotted this thread - brilliant idea! We're in such a disorganised mess that even simple jobs are often non-standard. :D

Going to drop off 3 bags of DS' old clothes (teenage stuff) at CS today - been hanging around for a couple of months. Tonight I need to dye my hair and clean out the fridge (euch!).

I was given a handful of onions when I went to my gardening course yesterday, so finding somewhere to plant them will be one of tomorrow's jobs. I, too, am one of those lazy b's who thinks cooker-cleaning is non-standard, but it HAS to be done this week!

I managed to finish painting the skirting boards yesterday:T The worst job in the world:o.

Today's NSJ will be giving the shower cubicle a good scrubbing inside and out. I resealed it all earlier in the week and its the last job on the bathroom list to be done before the new carpet goes down on the weekend.

If I feel the urge I may deep clean the conservatory too - although this will probably become tomorrow's job:p
  • Today I did ALL my ironing and saw the bottom of my ironing basket for the first time in weeks. Determined now to iron after EVERY load of washing.

In use up mode - made a few mince pies with mincemeat left over from Xmas, a custard tart with half a carton of leftover custard (beaten with an egg and a few drops of vanilla extract), and then had a load of pastry left over as I had made too much :o

So, then I made what the children used to call a 'pastry thing' (they used to fight over it, too). Roll out the pastry quite thinly, dot with butter, sprinkle with raisins and brown sugar, damp edges and fold up corners to middle and seal. Turn it over and roll till you can start to see the raisins. Then brush with water, sprinkle with sugar and bake. Cut into squares when cold - makes lovely cakey biscuity things :D

So, my non standard job today was to make some treats to last over the weekend :)

Does cleaning the cooker and putting all the bits on their own in the dish washer on a very hot wash to give the machine a clean too count? or am I a disgusting individual who should thnk cleaning the cooker is a standard job ?:o

I've had my cooker for over 20 years and I've only given it one thorough clean ! I do wipe the top over if I spill anything on it, and I have washed the rings occasionally, but not the oven until recently, when I found that the shelves were actually chrome and not black, lol! In my defence it does have self cleaning linings so it's only the shelves and the bottom that actually need cleaning.

On the subject of the oven, today I got OH to replace the oven bulb as I couldn't undo the cover, and fitted the handle back on the grill pan, these jobs have been waiting to be done since I cleaned the oven and grill a few weeks ago!

Also today I took over £3000 to the bank, that certainly doesn't happen every day in my life, lol! Unfortunately it was my dad's money not mine, for some reason known only to him he'd taken it out, and I had to persuade him that it wasn't safe for him to have that much money at home in his retirement flat.

  • I call these my niggly jobs - thise that annoy me but I never seem to get round to doing!! As I'm recovering from a health problem I'm having to prioritise and do what I can realistically. Flylady has been really helpful - especially the "you can do anything fo 15 minutes"!

    Today's NSJ / niggly jobs -
    - tidy towel cupboard
    - sort a cardboard filing box that has been sitting in the corner for about 4 months, MIL gave us a filing cabint she was getting of so today was the day! only stuff left in it is stuff i really don't know what to do with - hubby should be able to deal with it...
    - cleaned the fridge

I was on a roll today!

    Tomorrows NSJ
    - flylady task in email - work in master bedroom
    :j I feel I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe :j
  • My big monthly shop was today so my non standard job was to peel, chop and bag up the veg I need for various soups. Got carrot, parsnip, butternut squash & sweet potato all bagged up with any extra veg the recipes calls for so I just have to defrost, mix with seasoning, roast and blitz.:)
(now Im off to check out prices of freezers coz I think I need a 3rd one!!):o
