Evening all
I have looked into many challenges on here and try to partake in those I feel I can, or an edited version of my own.
This new year I resolved to be more organised and try to feel in control of my life. I find if my house is a mess, I am a mess. There's a million yellow post it notes stuck to my diary and a zillion to do lists kicking about the house and my work's place many of which have duplicate items on there just in case I forget. I also have the memory of a sieve!
I work full time and have 2 young kids (5 and 1.5) along with another child AKA my husband. We have a animals including a dog and chickens and I really do feel lucky to have a happy life.
However, I have found that when I am "stressed" it can usually be related back to something being disorganised or badly planned. I am not a control freak or anything :rotfl:honestly.
Therefore I have tried some of the challenges and have made my own edited version. I already have a standard routine for the days/weeks however I have found it hard to get the Non Standard jobs done. Therefore I set myself a daily non standard job challenge. It started off with "Tomorrow night I will fix the curtain hem in the bedroom" which I did and it took 15 mins :T. Then the following night it was to bag up the already decided upon pile of clothes for charity and put in car - 20 mins. Then take to charity the next day. These are all single jobs which normally I do not find the time for and they just get added to the list. Each job generally takes less than 30 mins and I feel a great sense of acomplishment from them so I just wanted to share my idea with you
Hope it helps someone and if you would like to join me, be it a daily or weekly task, feel free and welcome....

What a great idea, have so many of these type of jobs needing done, managed to get a few done yesterday as never seem to have time during the week. Managed to fix our bedroom blind which has been needing fixed for months, only took 15 mins!
Planning on tidying a cupboard tomorrow (everyone of them need a good sort through and clean).MFW - currently at £23,610 (Aug 2014) MFD 20200 -
Good idea!
I'm a teacher and during term times I barely get the basics done but its half term for me and I've done quite a few Non Standard Jobs over the past 2 days.....- Bled all the radiators (first time I've ever done it - very proud of myself!)
- Resealed the leaky shower tray (again a first!)
- Cleaned the car inside and out
- Wiped all skirtings down with anti bac stuff (mucky dog)
- Washing the cushion covers
- A bit of handwashing
- Start painting bathroom skirtings

Replaced the main bathroom shower curtain and took a massive pile of stuff to the local charity shop.
Also purchased some new plastic storage crates and put a pile of old photos and momentos away safely an tidily.
Feels good.
On the list for tomorrow, find a home for the 3 furbies I have located whilst doing a massive spring clean! Why I have 3 is anyones guess!2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Great idea!
I'm a SAHM and care for my DH so I'm home a lot and tend to think I've got all the time in the world to do things but in reality, if DH is having a bad day just getting the basics done is a challenge.
This morning I delegated a few phone call jobs to DH and managed to get the car cleaned inside and out.
This afternoon once I'd got DH to bed for a few hours I managed to get a seriously prickly bush cut down in the front garden, got the saw to the trunk of it, got it all chopped up and into bags ready for green waste collection on Friday.
Whilst cooking a roast for tea I cleaned out all the indoor recycling bins, a job I hate doing even tough it takes seconds to do."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
What a good idea.
I finished work on a project a few weeks ago, so looking for a new job and have been working through my non standard jobs. Today I painted the drain surround and back doorstep in the yard, both now look a bit brighter0 -

I tried to clean the shower walls and curtain with a paste of bicarb and bleach. Has worked quite well but will need doing again.
I have also done about 3 rooms high level dusting - ie ceilings.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I've shifted some more of my stuff from my old place to my new place. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Created a few more for another voluntary group.
Both jobs that have been sitting as post-its for a while0 -
Saturday: Took hexagonal fish tank into shower with me and scrubbed it. :rotfl:
Sunday: Looked for and found the blind I bought for the bathroom (four years ago) Will probably take another four before OH installs it. Tho' I did remind him that I have waited four years already!I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0
