Hi you only need to submit online and no waiting around cs desks.
The way that people get maximum jtd back is when money off coupons are used against the products at Tesco. The coupon comes off the end price at the till so the compared prices still give you the voucher back. If items go through that are cheaper at Tesco the voucher will be less that amount. So often the jtd is small or nothing on a large shop. The max a jtd can be is £20.00.
The meal deal at the mo is a good way to get a voucher. Include Fiano wine and potato dauphse and avoid other items on the receipt. Hope this helps.

to make it simple all the items in your shop will be checked against asda and if your shop as a whole would have been cheaper at asda you get a voucher for the difference £20 max.

be sure to check the price on the asda website on the day, before you get it from tesco.

anything that costs more at asda than tesco get in a seperate shop. just put a divider down and buy one lot then the other.

as for this being the first you have heard of it MSE dont make much of a fuss about it as in effect it is just a price match.

But nearly a year ago when it started tesco were cocky and said that they were so sure that they were cheaper than asda that they would give double the difference.

well after a couple of months of people doing half the price at asda £20 shops and getting £20 vouchers (cost £10 less at asda so £20 voucher) so basicly free stuff.

tesco said well done all you savvy people but now we a going to do just the difference, and most people on MSE stopped talking about it.

If you are still waiting for an email, then you can go back to the price checker site and put the details in again. This may bring up the price check thats normally the link from the email.

Depending on your browser you may have to use the back button and input the details again and then perhaps for the third time for it to work.

Usually if you have done it three times it will not come up and you will need to wat for the email.

Thank you letmelogon3. That explains it all. I remember the dtd days when there were queues at cs desk. Just one question - if one item is £1 in Asda and £2 in Tesco, can I buy 10 of those items and get £ 10 coupon? There is no limit on the number of items is there?

The only limit is £20 value of the returned voucher.

Just remember a few things ...

1. The £10 coupon is JUST a refund of the £10 EXTRA you spent at Tesco that you wouldn't have spent at ASDA (I'm sure many forget this and think they're getting a BONUS from doing it)

2. If the SAME item is ALSO £1 in Sainsbury's OR Morrisons OR Waitrose/Ocado buying 10 of them in ASDA as part of a similarly cost compared shopping list of 8 other items to qualify for an APG means you'll ONLY pay 90p for them
(Basically £10 in ASDA AND £10 elsewhere gives 10% back so £1 refund)

3. If the SAME item is ONLY 90p in Sainsbury's OR Morrisons OR Waitrose/Ocado buying 10 of them in ASDA as part of a similarly cost compared shopping list of 8 other items to qualify for an APG means you'll ONLY pay 81p for them
(Basically £10 in ASDA AND £9 elsewhere gives DIFFERENCE AND 10% back so £1.90 refund)

4. You are relying on the JTD TO WORK ....
Firstly ...IF the JTD fails to compare AT ALL you have bought the items at £2 each and IF they are something that cannot be returned for a refund then basically you're STUFFED. Even if you can return them it's a lot of hassle and you would still have to go to ASDA to buy them at £1 if you really need/want them.

Secondly, IF the JTD fails to compare as planned on THIS £2(T)/£1(A) item, then it can ALSO SCREW UP all the other JTD items that you put on the same receipt.

5a. In the case of example 2, IF there is a comparison failure with the APG you STILL ONLY pay £1 ... which (in this example) is the price you would have to pay in Sainsbury's, Morrisons or Waitrose/Ocado (and HALF the price in Tesco - ONLY the same WITH JTD)

5b. In the case of example 3, IF there is a comparison failure with the APG you STILL ONLY pay £1 - OK you could have paid just 90p in Sainsbury's, Morrisons or Waitrose/Ocado .......

(Which effectively IS THE SAME as buying (PAYING MORE) in Tesco in order to generate a JTD voucher refund because it's cheaper in ASDA)

... BUT BUT BUT .. YOU ARE NOT attempting a JUST The Difference ...

You are attempting THE DIFFERENCE PLUS 10%

Basically GAMBLING (that the Price Comparison WORKS OK - "as planned") the sum of 10p per item TO WIN 9p per item AND GET YOUR ORIGINAL STAKE BACK ....

The BET is 10p (paid £1 but could have paid just 90p) - a total "BET" of £1 for 10 of them.
The APG (on a correctly assembled shopping list) refunds the difference AND 10% ... the difference of £1 IS YOUR BET - so you get your stake back) and then you get your WINNINGS of 90p (10% of £9 - £9 being what they would have cost elsewhere)

6. JTD is only really worth trying IF .....

(a) ..... you've got either MOCs to get FREE or significantly reduced priced items OR ... CONDITIONAL SPEND VOUCHERS (eg £5 Off WYS £25)
... BOTH OF WHICH significantly reduce the INITIAL OUTLAY at your Tesco till and effectively enhance (increase) the value of any JTD

(b) ..... your NEAREST ASDA is too far away such that the costs (fuel/time/bus fare etc) in getting there outweighs any savings made from any cheaper items they may have on offer.

7. UNLESS Store Specific (ie Tesco) .. any MOC's etcetera that can be used as per 6a BUT in ASDA ..... can be used exactly the same to ENHANCE the APG outcome - same refund of DIFFERENCE PLUS 10% but you paid less actual MONEY at the till

Works best Kal, when with a coupon, and/or an offer from Asda. Make sure you don't buy anything from Tesco that is dearer in Asda, as this will come off your price check gain. Also bulk discount often comes into play e.g. 5% disc on 6 bottles wine.
£20 limit I think.Online have to wait a day or two.
Also works with wombled receipts as long as no clubcard/cred/debit card used. (all legal and two a day max)
I use mySupermarket to make up a list , then seperate into normal shopping and JTD.
DTD means getting back double the difference (from the customer desk) an overcharge where the Shelf Edge Label is shown cheaper than the till rceipt.
There was also another DTD , similar to JTD but double. For example Beef £4 a kg at Asda and £8kg at Tesco. So free meat. But that it all gone now.
Best no hassle deals these days are from Lidl weekend offers.

no, it is still in operation on instore misprices, it has just finished being double the difference on the price checks only.
