Hi can anyone explain the money back thing, think I'm missing something. I get the 25% off wine discount as it calculates the price before discount so you are in a win win situation, however if you buy anything that is cheaper in asda,do you only get the difference back , so no better off than buying it from asda in the first place?0

Post #48 of this thread (and a few that follow) is a good place to start

People use this offer for 2 reasons:
1. Your nearest Asda is too far away such that the costs (fuel/time/bus fare etc) in getting there outweighs any savings made from any cheaper items they may have on offer. By using JTD you can potentially buy the best offers from both Tesco and Asda
2. You can reduce the initial outlay at Tesco’s by using MOCs, conditional spend vouchers (eg £5 off WYS £40), or on some multibuy offers such as wine, when the 25% discount for six bottles does not compare.0 -
I also do this so I can save up Clubcard points for a holiday, as the PP said I can get the good deals of ASDA prices without having to drive the extra 5 miles to get there.0

The general rule is that meal deals, where you buy different items to make up a meal and then get a discount, compare at the full price of the items.
MOC (money off coupons) and conditional spends (eg £5 off when you spend £40) are ignored by the comparison.
But the reduced price for buying a few of the same item do reduce the individual price - sometimes. I buy juice that is £1.20 each or 3 for £3 and that compares at £1 each.
With the wine some people have said it compares at full price.
Remember also that the price check isn't perfect, people have often reported that it returns an Asda price of N/A and ignores that item.
So the rule is never rely on the JTD, either keep the item to return for a refund or decide to risk it, until the voucher is on your computer.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Is the 25% off when you buy 6 wines offer back on in T's then? That would be great, if so! :j
Usually only 5% off when you buy 6.0 -
