Plusnet Vs O2 & Sky Broadband Problems

Hi
I have done the following with Sky:
Track Order:
Cancellation: Sky Broadband Unlimited
Your request to cancel was accepted on 16/02/2012
Your service will be disconnected on 02/03/2012
The sky broadband hasn't been cancelled yet, Sky told me last week that can't cancel it for 14 days by law as they have to provide me with enough time to get a new bb provider.
You are totally right, Sky just confirmed that the mac code I've been given is not valid as cancelled broadband = shame they didn't tell me this when cancelled this & I waited 3 days for MAC code = sky don't know anything about this bit:
The cease charge is imposed by BT OR for terminating your service at the exchange without using a MAC, and recharged via your ISP. It's not anything to do with your minimum term contract date.
Mind you Sky don't know much about anything as always give wrong advice, can you please tell me how I find out if I will be charged and how I go about getting new isp asap as Sky give rubbish advice?
Thanks0 -

This is complete nonsense-the law does not require you to have a broadband provider! You simply have to give Sky the standard 30 days notice once you are out of minimum term.
Either cancel your cancellation, then get your MAC again and give it to your new ISP within 28 days, or just leave it be, and sign up with the new provider and hope you don't get a cease charge. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I took Plusnet without contract recently, it seems to be working great, of course when installing they plugged in different flat so after 2 day delay my internet was working;-)0
