Beko WM5120W not draining

Out of interest what detergent do you wash with - liquid, tablets, liquid tablets? What temperature washes do you use?
I only ask because I believe that the liquid forms of detergent use animal fat, and this can clog up your machine if you use it on low temperatures under 60c. It's a lot healthier for the machine to use soap powder/tablets.
If the rinse and spin works, I would recommend running a boil wash using biological, non-colour, soap powder with a small dash of bleach. This should get rid of the worst of any gunk stuck in your washer.0 -
We have been using liquid. The machine won't rinse now anyway!0

Sounds like the drain pump is clogged up. On most machines, this is a DIY job without the expense of calling out of a repair person. Remove back from machine, locate pump, unclip hose from pump, bork at the smell and gunk - then refit.0

Manufacturers often recommend (somewhere in the small print) that you run the machine empty on its highest temperature with NO soap/detergent every few months. Presumably this is to flush out any gunk.
You can also buy bottles of washing machine cleaner, which you are also recommended to use regularly, so I would try that too. (In out case it is our dishwasher that we have to run a cleaner through every few months).0 -
Woo! I bought carbon brushes and fitted them myself, now it works! Big saving on the 70quid quote from a repair man! Thanks for your help.0

Mine went about a month ago it was a hotpoint. It needed a new pump £70 took 30 mins. Whilst talking to repair man he said to us dont get beko they are cheap and nasty basically. Good tip from Terry is, every few months run wm on hottest wash and use some wm cleaner or soap crystals, this helps reduce gunk as low washing can clog up your wm. I got some wm cleaner from home bargains but I did mine with soap crystals from same shop. We tend to nearly always wash at 40c0
