'Consultation over the Gambling Introductory Offer Loopholes board' blog discussion

The solution is simple. Give local moderator rights to this forum for one or two people who know this stuff inside out, crack down hard on threads that discuss gambling in any way shape or form, and remove or close any threads that are not ev+. It's not really complicated.
Otherwise I run a hugely successful forum already, to set up an easy to navigate alternative to this place would take no time whatsoever if necessary.
One final thing. I personally wouldn't take advice from anyone who would put their own picture on the front page of a very busy forum. That is all.Pants0 -
Sadly I think one particular incident and people's opinions and in some instances prejudices about it will skew this discussion, which is a shame.
The only wording I would add to the big warning that is at the top of the GIOL board is 'never use money you cannot afford to lose'.
I started out doing small offers with well known and reliable bookies. For there I built my float. With the above caveat in mind you can then progress to more involved offers, perhaps less well known bookies etc. Yes, I think it is inevitable that if you place 100s of bets and sign up to 100s of bookies then somewhere along the line you will suffer a loss - either through your own human error or through the activities of what may turn out to be a rogue bookmaker or some other unforseen circumstance.
But that loss comes from the profits you have made. It should not come from your own savings or from money you cannot afford to lose. If that message is reinforced strongly enough then people will always make money from GIOL and therefore it can reasonably be regarded as risk free.0 -
GIOL will be closed. It doesn't fit the growing public profile of MSE. Does Martin really want to be facing mums with gambling addicted offspring on breakfast TV asking him how he justifies this board with money saving. Gambling has and always will have a stigma attached to it, no matter about exploiting the loopholes. Let's just move on and establish the forum elsewhere.0

lets face it the people who want to use PRS as a stick to beat this forum out of existance will try to do just that, i find it hard to believe that anyone who actually uses this thread for what it was intended would find any reason to shut it down...Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone!
just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

In life there is no such thing as "risk free" you can reduce the risk in life by looking both ways before you cross the road , but even that carries its risk. Paddy for one will be pleased if the board shuts down and as InflationBusting says for Martin to be true to himself, then he will probably have to close the whole site down.
Was i dreaming or did Martin advise everybody to invest their money in Icelandic banks ?
GIOL is complicated at first , but once you get the hang of it its quite straightforward.
I do admit that once Tim L left a lot of the experience and inside knowlege of the rub left too. What is wrong with losing a quid here and there to gain a £100 every 5 laddies offers ?
dosh i have earned from this board is megaenormous in comparison to collecting Piggy points.
They went belly up as well and there were quite a few angry porkers on the Freebies thread.
in short, i see no difference in somebody posting an offer on this forum than any other. it is then up to the reader to make their own decision.

If it is to be closed, can it be done in a phased way to allow the community the opportunity to move. And more importantly, don't do anything until after Cheltenham, don't need the disturbance of a new forum interfering with all those risk free offer that will be available from the main bookies!0 -

I will be sorry to see it go.
However, whilst jobbing does a fine job, the board does need greater regulation if it is to continue.0 -
We shouldn't be thinking 'What have we done wrong? How can we convince MSE to keep GIOL open?' We should be thinking 'Would another forum value us more and would they do a better job of dealing with the trolls who attack us?' The answers to those questions are Yes and Yes.0

Would be a real shame for this forum to go. The members who post are out of this world and there ability to keep making offers profitable is amazing. I for one definately don't want to see it go. The people of this forum have made me a lot of money and for that I am very grateful. I for one wouldn't be in the financial situation I am in now if it wasn't for this board.0
