Hello,
My OH currently has a mobile with O2, for which he pays up front for a year. This deal is coming to an end in March and because he is not a heavy user, O2 haven't come up with a better deal, (i.e. replace his phone with the one that he wants) despite many phonecalls to them and trying to get them to price match other deals which he has seen. He has now found the phone that he wants from mobile shop on an 18 month deal with 9 months cashback, but again this is on O2. He would like to know if it would be possible to port his number from his current O2 contract to a new O2 contract, should he choose to go with the mobile shop deal.
Thanks

Ask the mobile shop, they will know, I know you can't do it from Voda to Voda. You can try using a comparison site to find the best deal on the phone you want - you could try onecompare, mobilephonechecker or !!!!!!!!!!!!!.2p off is still 2p off!0

He would first have to port it to a pay as you go sim on a different network, i.e. vodaphone. Then port that number to the new mobileshop 02 contract.0

As Shareef mentions, you would need to port out to another network then port back. It takes 7 days to port out and the same to come back. I just did this - port out from o2 to Virgin (free sim of the internet), wait 7 days for number to arrive, immediately request PAC from Virgin then port back to o2.
You need to be careful and ensure that you have the PAC code from the other network (in my example, Virgin) as according to many of the online retailers, you need to give them the PAC code for o2 at the time of the order (unlike some networks, apparently, where you can contact the network later).
