Not My problem ! take a look at the thread in the Discussion forum re Charities and begging !

Local farmers will re-coup losses by selling stock at inflated prices , yea i know ! Poor Farmers ...again !
So the only ones taking a real hit will be the consumer , again !

Boo hoo poor EycplUK can only see things from their selfish point of view. I didn't actually mention giving money to charity or to beggers, you missed the point which was that your reaction to the current lamb situation is an over exggeration especially when you consider what is happening in the world at present.

Now you are taking aim at the farmers, the ones who actually produce the lamb you eat, biting the hand that feeds you don't you think? Frankly I didn't expect anything else from someone who proclaims themselves to be a bast**d. I agree with lindseykim13, this thread doesn't have much relevence to the majority of us. It's just you moaning.

And why shouldnt the farmers try and recoup their losses ? Do you know how much a Farmer gets for his lambs ? its probably only a 10th of the retail price

I think lamb is pretty expensive as it is and I know farmers don't get a fraction of the money that they should for this.

Farmers are doing OK from lambs at the moment. Prices at auction have more than doubled in the last couple of years.

If you want to pay less buy a full one direct from a farmer. £5-8 a kilo.

Not sure i understand this thread to be honest as a money saving site most of us i assume woudn't be buying lamb anyway. For us a leg of lamb is a christmas treat! I couldn't buy lamb even before any virus threat, eat chicken or pork if the price is too high.

I do - I love lamb - I buy a whole one for £2 a lb from the farm shop - thats very money saving if you ask me. I get my lamb in autumn as I like a slighly older one - buying lamb in spring is a fools game and wil always cost more
People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

  • I only ever buy lamb if its on offer or in the reduced section :)saying that i always favour shoulder of lamb rather than leg as the flavour is so much better:D

It may well be a money-saving site but all of us have different ideas of what MS actually means to us.

Some see money-saving as penny pinching, keeping every single penny a prisoner (some through lack of choice, others because they enjoy it and see it as a game). Some of us want to spend as little as possible in areas that we have no choice over (for me, that is insurance, etc) so that we can spend more in areas that we enjoy.

I enjoy cooking, and food in general, so I perhaps spend more in that area than other people - although that is not to say that I am wasteful. I buy my preferred brands on offer, cherry pick from some of the basics ranges, eat seasonally. It's not all about avoiding eating things because they're not seen as money-saving.

FWIW, my five year old adores lamb, so it's something we have regularly.

Yes thats all fine but my point still stands that there is no point to this thread-it isn't achieving anything by pointing out that the price of lamb may rise. Things always rise in price when something is in demand.

If the op had titled the thread- Where is a good place to get cheap lamb? -that would be a valid point/question.

The only thing that has happened is the op has had a moan about something that hasn't even happened yet and others are arguing about if they buy lamb or not.

Pointless, infact why am i even posting :o
  • Yes thats all fine but my point still stands that there is no point to this thread-

Are you sure that was your point? When I read your first post I thought your point was "I can't afford to eat lamb, I therefore assume most of us wouldn't buy it, so I can understand this thread".

Not sure i understand this thread to be honest as a money saving site most of us i assume woudn't be buying lamb anyway. For us a leg of lamb is a christmas treat! I couldn't buy lamb even before any virus threat, eat chicken or pork if the price is too high.

it isn't achieving anything by pointing out that the price of lamb may rise.

It is if you didn't know the price of lamb may rise.
Things always rise in price when something is in demand.

That wasn't the reason given for why the price may rise.
If the op had titled the thread- Where is a good place to get cheap lamb? -that would be a valid point/question.

Aren't we lucky it's not you who gets to decide what is valid and what is not on this site.
The only thing that has happened is the op has had a moan about something that hasn't even happened yet and others are arguing about if they buy lamb or not.

And you have had a moan about not being able to afford lamb, and another moan about people talking about the price of lamb.
Pointless, infact why am i even posting :o

Because you like moaning and like complaining about other people moaning?

If you don't like the thread, or think it is pointless why not stop reading it and go and do something you enjoy?

I'm generous, I take note of the charity adverts doing the rounds. So how about this.... have a leg of lamb from a poor farmer but in return give them enough couscous to last them 5 years. I mean, that's a good trade, that will keep them going. I'll even throw in a fishing net. :)
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
