So today has gone a bit wrong...

I checked my account and I was £80 something overdrawn. Need to check how this happened.

    Positives for today:
    - got the ch back and had a great pm with my friend. She made lunch and I took some bits to add to it, but ended up taking more home than I took!
    - had my bargainous roast pork for dinner tonight. It was lush! Tasted so much better knowing it was cheap, and there's enough left for another six dinners! Nice!
    - made the picnic stuff ready for tom, only it turns out we may not be going, so I'll spread the food out over a couple of days, so less to prepare for the next few meals!

Can't think of anything else right now, may need to add to this tomorrow.

I remember DS' birthday picnic was rained off one year with a tribe of parents and littlies due and everything prepared - we spread paper table cloths over the floor and had the picnic indoors and everyone really enjoyed it. The only compromise was "blind-man's buff" instead of "hide-and-seek" and I don't think anyone noticed. For me, the best part was scooping up all the mess in the cloths and stuffing it in the bin - tidied away in about a minute!!

I hope the OLB isn't too much of a problem. I've just paid an invoice without moving money to cover it and I'm sitting her thinking "I'd better just check..."

    Enjoy the weekend

Had a great couple of days, despite the weather!

Yest, we were supposed to go to West Mids Safari Park, but decided against' it - my friend who was coming with us was ill, and the weather was rubbish, so we postponed. Instead, we had a thoroughly lazy morning, and then we went to asda in the afternoon for the children to spend some of their pocket money. I bought a new dvd (Rio), for us to watch as our movie night. And we did have a carpet picnic, and very nice it was too!!

Today, we went swimming with friends in a place with waterslides and waves. Both children went on a waterslide by themselves for the first time ever, although I was really scared!! (They're still my babies!!) Then we went to their house for lunch, and then to soft play, where I met a girl working there who I used to teach, and she's 17 now!

I don't know what to do about my dfd now, as the only debt I now have is my mortgage, having finished paying off my cc thanks to the extra tax credits...

    Positives for today:
    - great day with friends
    - planned the camping trip next week a bit more
    - used up a few bits from stores
    - got a 'new' pair of shoes for ds. Friend gave them to us, her sons had grown out of them!
    - VERY proud of my children on the waterslides, esp dd who was very nervous about them. And, it cost nothing for my swim, as I have a monthly pass (ok, I pay for that, but for exercise classes etc, and this was ents!)
    - Cheap lunch today. I provided some ys toms, the end of a cuc, a few cocktail sausages and some smartprice grapes, and friend did toasties, choc fingers, drinks, ice cream!!
    - Helped a lady parking today - she was reversing a big car into a space with a bollard behind her, and she looked nervous about it, so I helped her by signalling her far to her. She even remembered what I looked like, as she came up to me in the soft play five mins later to thank me!
    - Put a LOAD of sliced pork into the freezer tonight, the leftovers from my cheapo joint. It was so tasty, dd commented both times! Really looking forward to having more of it in the near future!

Dinner tonight was risotto, as requested by dd. Ds has asked for fish and chips, which he wanted tonight, but I persuaded him that he wants that tomorrow, to coincide with our trip to Longleat (tesco vouchers!), so I won't have to cook when we get home. If I can manage it, I'll just get it for them, and I'll have some use up stuff for my dinner once they're in bed.

I'm highly annoyed with myself... I said in my last post that I had put the pork in the freezer, as I was going to do that as soon as I'd finished typing. Unfortunately, something caught my attention and I forgot! Remembered today, as we've had such a hectic few days. I'm so mad!! That was enough to do another 3 or 4 meals!!

    Positives:
    - Held my ground over a fight with ex. Won't go into details, but suffice it to say that he tried the bullying tactics he's famous for and I didn't let him.
    - Very cheap food day. Breakfast was finishing off pancakes, lunch was ham sandwiches and dinner was out at the vicars' house!
    - Nsd completely. Didn't even open my purse today. And, trip was much cheaper than I expected too. We went to Longleat and I only spent £12 throughout the whole day. Used less fuel than expected too.
    - Did some sorting out of dd's clothes today, and have a bundle of bits to sell. Some school uniform, some normal. May make two bundles and eBay them...

I am aiming to NOT buy any of the beans this week! JJ said on the gc that they will be on offer at t from tomorrow (today, I guess!), but I already have about 16 tins, so I don't need more! My mantra will be that they'll be on offer again when I've used up more of my stock!!

Loads of nsds this week. Fell into my hoarder obsessive mood, and bought loads of books, including recipe books. Because they were on sale stupidly cheap. Still, didn't need them so it was a waste of money!! :@

Sorted out two bags of tut this week, and doing another two this weekend. It's free listing weekend, but don't think I'm ready for that yet...

No ch until Tuesday dinner now, so I'm on use up.

I always think that. I've got a frame tent that I have nearly listed three times and yet here we are, too late to sell it again this year and so it sits on the garage yet again for another winter - alongside the 8'6" artificial Xmas tree that is too tall for the ceilings - this will be our 9th Xmas in this house. My little pocket of shame...

Hi PG, As you have just been away it might be different now... but you could look at this thread mfw which Spiggle maintains, and take on the next DFD challenge. You've done so well fiscally and emotionally since I've been following you. Whatever you do, I wish you success.

Good luck with the new teaching job - I suspect this starts next week (as DH goes back Monday)

I hope you all enjoyed your holiday

  • Thanks you two! It's really comforting to know people are thinking about you.

The holiday was amazing! I didn't worry about money at all, didn't sat no to the children once, and had a thoroughly fab time. They felt really spoilt, but have luckily gone straight back to fiscal frugality!! We saw loads of characters, went on rides, climbed the Eiffel Tower, ate ice creams and hit dogs, and smiled and laughed loads. I'll remember it forever. Dd cried when it was time to go home!

Yes, I started the new job last week. It's hard getting used to it again, but I'm getting there! Feeling a bit more organised each day.

Thanks for the link, I'm just off to have a butchers!

    Take care
