Hi,
I wanted to take my old mobile number with me but did not get a phone direct from tmobile when it was due for upgrade ( so I had 2 mobs at this point ). Now tmobile said I could keep the old number if, at the end of the contract I PAK'd it over to vodafone PAYG then once VF had it I could PAK it again over to tmobile to replace the new number they had given me on the new phone I had purchased indirectly. Why on earth this is soooooo difficult for them to do internally is beyond me!
Anyway, it looks like I have to make a chargeable call or text on the VF PAYG handset before the number becomes active on VF. Is this really the case or can they transfer it back to TM? I dont really want to have to spend a fiver min topup just to make a phonecall.
Any help welcome?

Moving my number from T-Mobile to T-Mobile!
Like many other regulators Ofcom is incapable of producing anything more clear than mud:
What is a Porting Authorisation Code(PAC)?Some mobile phone providers may charge you a fee to move your number.
.....
Your provider cannot refuse to issue a PAC if you have any outstanding bills or charges to pay.
Can my mobile provider refuse to give me a PAC?0 -
They don't want you to do it as they regard it as a backdoor upgrade. Getting a new customer deal while not being really a new customer.
The port out, port back really isn't that much trouble as rule. You can use any other network, it doesn't have to be Voda. . .0 -
The deal for my old phone was actually going to be £10 a month less than I was on now, they just didnt offer the phone.0
