edf prepayment- are we supposed to get statements of useage?
Options
Hi all hope someone can help:
last summer, about june i think it was i switched to edf from scottish power, i got the paperwork about the price rises and decided enough was enough, anyway we used to get paperwork about how much we used every so often (we are on prepayment), as it stands now we havent had any paperwork like this from edf. are we supposed to?
they sent me something through about confirming my email address so they could sign me up for some sort of online thing and i didnt want to because i find paperless billing more hassle than its worth when trying to keep track of things (its my inner old man i guess lol)

most company's do a six monthly statement but with some it can be up to a year they have to provide a statement annually0

Most are yearly statementsDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I hope Brit Gas reps are monitoring these forums,I ve lost count how many prepay custs routinely tell me they ve never recieved any yearly useage letters ever, never mind once a year.I get this all the time from them when I me on my meter reading rounds0

The requirement for an annual statement came in at the start of last year (for all customers, not just prepayment). However, a new 'annual' statement needs to be produced when prices go up, so everyone should have had one in the autumn last year.
Experience tells me that there are at least some customers who won't open a letter from their supplier if they are on prepayment as they "don't get a bill it must be junk".
You can always take a reading and phone/email/write to them to ask how much you've used since you switched over.0 -
Hi Swanjon, are you saying Brit Gas definitely send out annual prepay useage statements.I ve been reading for B.G. for over 12 years now and have had coversations with customers constantly about this. Will pass on your advice if this correct and tell them youve binned them as junkmail! My usual advice is to tell them to call cust services.0

sacsquacco - yes - they were sent in the autumn last year, and at the start of 2011 too. There was a time when they weren't sent as they seemed to cause more confusion (they looked too much like bills), but I think the new scheme started in 2010 (but more staggered).
All suppliers should now be doing the same.0
