EDF more than doubled DD without informing me

got through to their customer service - she is totally confused with my bill too. it is definitly only billed to last may, but the bill is dated dec 2011.
Gave her meter readings.
her words were " how strange i think i'm in a parallel universe - could this day get any more bizarre"
She said she would call me back - I said I was ok to keep on hold - went quiet for a while - then she came back said "its beyond me I will get one of our billing experts to look at it" so I am now waiting on a call back.0 -
Doesn't inspire one with confidence in EDF customer service I'm afraid0

They put my DD down by £2 but it was as expected, as i can read my bill and adjudicate roughly how much it should be.0

Happy - customer service lady called me back pretty quick
I am still £325 in credit so they are going to refund me £300.
They want to reduce my DD to £10 per month = £9 gas + £1 electric!!!
I said no - wanted to keep it at £60 as that is what I have been paying for the last year.
As it looks like prices are going to be higher this year seems a good idea to keep my DD higher than what it maybe needs to be.
I then asked about changing tariff - she said yes - there were other online fixed price tariffs available - she then went to check and came back saying no - only standard variable price. And a fixed price which would be slightly higher than that at the moment. So still need to do some price comparison - when I get a revised annual statement - she said would be online later today.
So = some mix up in their billing dept, plus me not giving regular meter readings caused me to think (for a while) that I had £700 credit with them. Could have been worse I guess - if I owed them money.0 -
There are two fixes currently available, as well as Standard. So her info was not correct.

Exactly the same thing happened to me, they took £151 without even letting me know & I too was in credit?! Phoned up to complain & was informed that it was a glitch in their computer systems blah blah blah. Thankfully it didn't matter as I'm already in the black but had I been close to being overdrawn then I'd have incurred costs totally not of my doing!:mad:0

But EDF did increase my DD from £62 to £136 without telling me. I didn't call to complain - just for help understanding the bill. They then apologise and reduce DD to £10. Now back to original £62 at my request. Something sure seems to have gone wrong in their billing dept0

Ask if you can change it to a standing order at a sensible rate calculated on your last 12 months. I know that Scottish Power allow this and you can still keep your dd discounts, etc. Don't know about EDF.''apply within''0

Glad you are getting there.0
