My guess is that your in london, manchester, birmingham, or somewhere else big.
I did notice a contactless terminal in a newsagent when I visited Birmingham, but they also had a sign up saying "Minimum card payment: £5", and I don't see myself ever spending that much at a newsagent. Starbucks I don't know about, their coffee is horrible so I don't visit. Costa Coffee don't support contactless, and Subway is the devils spawn. Don't use buses and the boots I've visited didn't support contactless. I noticed Greggs do, but again, unlikely to spend over £5 which is stated as the minimum.
I'm in Liverpool, I believe we were the test city for companies with RBS/Natwest merchant terminals. You'll begin to see them in more shops, slowly but surely!
