Same things happened to me. I haven't received any goods for these £83.80 so should be able to get it back. Im closing my account. Cheek!!

Why are you closing your account ? What has your card issuer done wrong ?

This doesn't sound like a scam in the true sense of the word, but it does sound like 'sharp practice'.

Dazzling the buyer with the 'free offer' but hiding the pertinent details in the T&Cs which most people don't read - even if they do tick the little box which says they have.

If the company did put the notice more prominently "BY AGREEING TO THIS OFFER YOU ARE SIGNING UP TO A SUBSCRIPTION AGREEMENT FOR £XXX PER MONTH WITH A COMPANY THAT COULD BE BASED ABROAD FOR ALL YOU KNOW", they would have very few customers.

This is how they make their money. Unless you are actually buying something, do not give your card or account details online.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

OP, you mention you haven't reported this to the police yet, can I ask why? Its very easy to do this and you are more likely to get anything back from the bank if you do this. The non emergency number is 101 or altrernatively call your local branch. Waiting for them to beg for mercy and refund you is by the looks of things, very unlikely.

I have already got all my money back from the company.

I have also been scammed by this company.

I sent for the 'free oil' paying only package and posting. I received the oil in a package that contained nothing else.

On the 18/02/13 i saw another transaction had left my account for £83.80. I rang essence of argan customer services and was assured that if i returned the oil i would receive a full refund. i returned the oil using the RMA number that customer service had provided 567917857504697 to 9 karpenisiou street, strovolos, 2021 nicosia, cyprus. I have proof of postage certificate.

I have emailed them a number of times but have not received a refund. When i googled this company they have terrible reviews.

I am making a report on scambook regarding this. I have also contacted my bank...they are raising a visa dispute (slowly) but say its a waste of time cancelling my card. i am also logging a fraud complaint with the police

:jAfter a long hard 6 weeks battle with many tears of frustration: police, bank, trading standards all unable to help, the company itself refunded my money!!! As to the small print...it is exceedingly small and i would say un-noticeable and my package did not have any paperwork. Maybe describing this as a scam is a little harsh but it is definitely sharp practice indeed. I will never look at anything proclaiming itself as 'free' ever again.
