HTC Evo ? would this suit ?

Please be gentle, I am not good with phones or phone related technology. Just noticed that Asda has simfree HTC Evo for £229. I am wanting to buy a new phone but not to use as a phone as I have a works phone that I use for all my call/texts, so I don't want to get on a plan as I won't use it. I am wanting the phone to do the following:

- act as an mp3 player, I have an ipod classic 120gb, i'd probably like to download around 250 fave songs to this device.

- access the internet fully

- to play videos/films - would really appreciate if this could be connected to a TV to play them (for when in hotel rooms etc.)

- to read books, i have an alurtek book reader, which i love, it is smaller/lighter than a kindle and was £29, and have loads of books on calibre.

- to do GPS/act as a tom tom

Also realise that is this is "sim free" i will have to get a SIM that suits, and one that suits does no calls or texts but has internet usage ? Don't mind if it does limited calls/texts.

Please advise if you can, thanks sal xx

yep it will do all that, without even needing a sim card in it, but if you do want 3G data then giffgaff will prob be your best bet if you require data throughout the month, or if you will only need data odd days then 3 mobile you can pay 50p for one days internet up to 128MB.

you'll need a memory card for the phone to put your music and videos on, to connect the phone to a TV (via HDMI) you will need an MHL cable, and to use it as a GPS you could use google navigation but you will need a 3G connection, or you can use an offline GPS app which will work when you don't have a data connection.

It will do all the above and more.

The amount of music you can put on it will depend on your sd card you have in it.
It takes up to a 32gb micro sd card, these can be had from amazon for £25

it can play videos / movies, stream netflix, tvcatchup etc, you can play these to
a TV with a HDMI port by using a MHL cable, official HTC one about £20, or cheep
chinky ones for a fiver on ebay, you need the MHL cable, a HDMI cable, and your
phone charger, connect it all up and whatever is on your phone screen shows on
    the TV.

It has GPS and can act as a satnav, I use copilot on my HTC sensation, very similar
phones, it stores the maps on the sd card so you don't need access to the internet
like you do with some other satnav apps, but if you don't want to pay for an a satnav
app and have internet usage you can use Google maps for navigation

There's plenty of ereaders on the market, along with a kindle app etc

Depending on how much internet usage you need then one of the best bets would
be GIFFGAFF with a £10 goodybag added, gives 250 minutes, unlimited texts and
unlimited internet usage, even if you dont use the calls and texts, then £10 for loads
of internet usage is worth it.

I purchased an HTC EVO 3D from Asda on Friday and have to say its great. I previously lost my Samsung Galaxy s2 a few days before the purchase of the EVO and it does everything the s2 did only quicker. Good buy at £229.
