Pregnant women. Why do they arch their backs in order to maximise the belly bulge? Why do they waddle? Why do they rub their bumps? Why do they have to exagerate all aforementioned? "Hey look at me! Guess what I've been up to? I've made a baby". Ughh..

It gets on my wick. I know they don't all do it, but those who do.........Oh, and I've had babies of my own and promise I wasn't precious during my pregnancies. Just had to rant after seeing a photo of that Peaches girlie. Off to bed, with hopes I won't be so grumpy after a good sleep.

With some of these points you could also be referring to obese people ;)

Never been pregnant in my life but I assume carrying a baby must give a person back ache, I get back ache due to riding/heavy lifting and find arching my back eases pain on the lower back and stretches the muscles.

It only annoys me when pregnant women act like they are ill and should be given priority over other people all the time, my friend would be offended if people thought she should push in queues etc when she was pregnant. As she put it 'I'm not ill I'm pregnant'

My Nan had a operation and needed a wheelchair for a couple of weeks I was about to push her into a shop when a young pregnant woman pushed past and the chair clipped her ankle (her own fault for squeezing past) she could be seen holding her bump after.....never knew ankles were connected to her stomach.

Why did I arch my back? Well, sorry to disappoint you but it wasn't to say "hey look at me" it was to say "Hey, I'm 8 months pregnant, knackered, cramped and suffer from Scoliosis so my already bent spine is now under much more pressure all so I can bring my beautiful children into this world"

I've read some crap on this forum but the OP really does take some beating.

you wanna try carrying twins and see if you can do it w/o waddling LOL
It was a huge joke to everyone how i walked in the later stages of my twin pregnancy.
If waddling was an olympic sport I'd have won gold hands down.
And I rubbed and rubbed my belly when pregnant with DD, she somehow got her foot caught under my rib. And was born with her toes touching her shin due to this. So I rubbed as it helped just a little to relieve the pain. ( My rib felt bruised for quite a few mths after wards)
And I arched my back with the final pregnancy, as I pulled several muscles lifting the twins whilst pregnant, and arching helped. Also rubbed a bit

Didn't do all three during same pregnancy tho
  • Wow, you really do have a chip on your shoulder!

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and 5 feet tall. If I didn't arch my back, it hurts my hips when I walk, and I feel like i'm about to fall forward. I waddle, because my baby is pushing down, my bump is heavy and my hips have loosened. I rub my bump because it often hurts when the baby moves, or I get niggling pains from my stretching uterus.

Why do people make snap judgements about others? I don't do this because I want the whole world to know i'm pregnant, but even so, being pregnant is something to be proud of!

I suppose with a baby potentially pressing against your bladder the odds are you will have a greater need.
  • Crap, I was about to post only I've had flashbacks and now need to pee! Jezz, can someone help me of the chair, I think my back is about to give!

Gawd love the OP's or their partner should they ever carry a child!

Even if you do it so people can see your pregnant, if you're doing so because your proud to be carrying a child rather than to be treated like a superior, then what's the problem?

I suppose it's no different to a wealthy man unnecessarily driving his flash motor

To be honest, when I'm pregnant I am going to jolly well relish the kindness of other people...it's not that prevelant these days so if someone lets me jump the toilet queue (or anything else) I'm all for it!!!
