Because ignoramus this is not the only criteria.
No it's not but it is the most common one used as is the award of HRM which also requires you to be unable or virtually unable to walk.
The full list is here:
I am over the age of two and have a permanent andsubstantial disability which means that I am unable to walk
I am over the age of two and have a permanent andsubstantial disability which means that I have very considerable difficulty inwalking
I drive a vehicle regularly, and have a severe disability inboth arms that means I am unable to operate all or some types of parking meter

I am under the age of three and have a medical conditionthat means I must always be accompanied by bulky medical equipment
I am under the age of three and have a medical conditionthat means I must always be kept near a vehicle in case I need emergencymedical treatment
Which one would you say fits your condition then?0 -
I actually applied for disability blue badge at the same time as DLA so had to admit that I wasn't in receipt of DLA at that time, probably hence the test for the blue badge. I did get high rate mobility and care after however.0

By virtue of chronic pain in my knee diagnosed as CRPS, I am virtually unable to walk. I got my BB just about a year ago, almost 12 months prior to being awarded DLA.
My next door neighbours have a blue badge for their son (who is now 7), he has a heart condition which can flare up at anytime. However, anyone who does not know him would assume he is a normal child with the way he plays with the rest of the children in the street.
Hence why I said at the beginning of this thread, not all disibilities/illnesses are visible.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

The BB is for 3 years the DLA for 12 months......I also got free road tax but I haven't used this as I bought a new car in May 2011 and it is already taxed and hubby has a company car.
I have just had my second total knee replacement (first one last September), so hopefully, by this time next year, I won't need the BB (Consultant says it takes about 12 months to fully settle down and be, hopefully pain free):D
