Moved house and I now have a bad credit rating

Hi Folks,
My credit has always been no problem, luckily I've ever had any debt or money woes, however....
I moved into my current house 5 years ago. We started getting all sorts of letters threating a visit from the baliffs, court action addressed to the previous owner etc.
When I tried to get a contract with Orange, I was turned down, I emailed them a credit report from Experian and sorted it. Now I'm getting the same problem trying to get an overdraft.
So I presume the toerag who used to live in my address did a runner owing lots of money. Does this mean my address is blacklisted? I had no credit problems in my old house.
Do I have to keep sending my credit report to everyone who turns me down? Its going to get expensive and time consuming, I'm guilty until proved innocent!!
Is there a way I can sort it once and for all?
Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

Addresses aren't blacklisted. Neither are people. Every application is judged on merit."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

Addresses don't get blacklisted. Bad credit is recorded against the individual, not the house. Is your credit report from Experian clear, nothing bad on it?

I moved into a similar situation several years ago, and had no problem - I opened each letter as it arrived, called the company concerned, job done.0

My credit report was flawless, as I expected it to be
It all started happening when I moved house, so it must be something to do with it.0 -
I had problems many years ago when I bought a reposession property but as far as I'm aware properties aren't blacklisted anymore ....
Have you checked your credit reports from the other 2 credit references agencies (incase something is showing on one that isn't on the Experian one)?Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250

I once had an issue with a utility company when I moved and changed supplier, where the person previous to me had run up an unsettled bill. I had to get in touch with the extant supplier and get them to take my address off a database. Took no time at all.
Usually an association is made if you are/were living at the address at the same time as a naughty person, especially if you have the same surname, or they could presume you to be a cohabiting couple (presumably not only male-female, but also m-m or f-f) . You can write to any of several credit agencies, asking for a 'statement of disassociation' - on which you just do that, sign a declaration you aren't responsible of financially connected to the naughty person.0 -
Have you registered your name to the electoral register at your new address...SAVINGS: £63.86 // £3,0000

That sounds interesting, I bought the house with my brother, who has a perfect credit rating too. I think the house used to be rented - we used to get post for lots of different people when we moved in. I have no idea where any of them are living now, it might of been the person using lots of false names too. So not sure how we can get their details to disassociate from them.
We are regostered to our current address on the electoral role too.0 -
Is there a registered body I can talk to about this? Citizens advice etc.
Also, do you think there might be some sort of identity theft going on here?
If properties are no longer blacklisted, there is no reason for me to get turned down.
I really want to get to the bottom of it, and I'm getting really concerned.
Thanks again0 -

Sorry haven't ready the whole thread, but I remembered something similar happening. It turns our I was rejected as I wasn't on the electoral register til the start of the following month. You sure it's nothing simple like thus?0
