Looking for a new inkjet printer.

It depends a bit on the model, but last time I looked, original HP inkjet carts were ~very~ expensive.
I'd go for a Epsom or Canon - do some research before buying so you know you can get fully compatible (chipped) cartridges cheaply from somewhere like 7dayshop.0 -
I opted finally for for the Epson Stylus SX130.
You can print in grayscale and also buy Epson compatible cartridges at very good prices.

A lot of buzz has been around on the Internet discussing the usefulness of using compatible consumables when the printer ink runs out. However, some printer users are still wondering whether they should stick to original branded cartridges or switch to third party consumables. Some users are skeptical of using anything else other than OEMs because they are just worried due to the misconception of damage to the printer. Basically, third party printer consumables are similar in quality and output to its OEM counterparts and are there is no risk associated because these products have been specifically formulated and tested for using them effectively on the printer.
Once the toner cartridges run out, you should immediate buy a toner refill kit to avoid getting ink clogged at the print head. However, take note that most OEM toner cartridges are good only for up to 3 to 4 refills and after that the quality will start to deteriorate. Some users may conduct a further refill before discarding the used cartridge. The fact is that so long the print quality continues to turn out well the cartridge can probably endure another print cycle effectively. To refill your cartridge by yourself, it will take only about five to ten minutes depending on the skill and expertise. Of course, this is done by carefully following the instructional guide that comes with the kit.
Brother Ink Cartridges0 -
My 18 month old HP all in one Deskjet F4850 stopped printing in colour, two new carts added no joy, yet another new printer to look for. My experience over the years is that inkjets with fixed print heads clog up if not used regularly, inkjets with carts with built in heads the printer's seem to last longer but the ink costs more than the Greek national debt. What next ????"Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

Consider compatibles0

Done that for years, re-filled my own carts all done with great care and still the damn things break down. Over the years I have had expensive and cheap printers, the best was a little Canon stylus about the size of a toaster cost about £30,I did all my daughters wedding photo's A4 size on it eventually it died after about 4 years and I have found nothing yet to equal it. It is cheaper to buy a tablet computer and use that as a photo album and only getting a cheap printer for B/W text printing."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

Printers are an important accessory of your computers. They provide the hard copy of the documents present on the desktop of your computer. While purchasing a printer the quality should be kept in mind. ‘Brother’ offers quality printers & that too at cheap price. Though printers offered by Brothers are available at cheap prices yet the quality is never made vulnerable. They offer laser printers of various models, features & functionality for both home & office purpose. Brother printers make use of brother ink cartridges. Their main functionality is high speed & availability in different sizes. Once the brother ink cartridge runs out they could be replaced by cheap ink cartridge but of superior quality. Brother ink cartridges for Brother laser printer are available for small, medium as well as large sized enterprises.0

Have you considered a Continuous Ink System ?
I fitted one to my Canon printer and have certainly not regretted it. A bit fiddly to fit and set up but once it is running it is superb. The ink colours are especially good.
OEM cartridges for my printer are around £20 ea; compatibles about half that. I paid £65 (inc courier delivery) for this system.
Refill of 100ml of each colour ink is £18.99 - but it will be a long time before I need to buy a refill :rotfl::rotfl:
I got mine from:

...........but there are plenty of other suppliers.0 -
How you can Recycle & Refill Brother Ink Cartridges or Laser Toner Cartridge
Brother printer cartridge LC01C, LC01Y, LC01M and LC01BK (MFC 7000 series)
1. Place any absorbent material like a towel underneath before refilling the brother ink cartridges.
2. After filling ink in the syringe bottle remove the needle and put the cone shaped adaptor on it.
3. Find the hole in the cartridge through which the ink flows out and turn the exit port down facing your lap.
4. Slowly inject the ink from the syringe bottle into the cartridge until the ink starts coming out of the vent hole and is not foamy.
5. Now turn the cartridge the other way round so that the vent hole faces you and the exit port is towards your lap.
6. Put the needle back into the syringe bottle and inject the needle into the vent hole. Continue injecting till the ink comes out of the exit hole and stops foaming.
7. Leave the cartridge in this position for about ten minutes. Then repeat the 6th step and let it rest for another ten minutes.
8. Install the cartridge in the printer. If it has to be transported then an electrical tape can be used to cover the exit and vent holes but must be removed before printing.0
