What do you suggest to the OP as an alternative?
A passenger has less chance of dying in an air accident than on the road, yet people still die from air traffic accidents
The antivirus is not useless so OP should use the good one.
Be careful with what apps to install. Dont use all 90 app stores.

Its up to OP to make the mind up, are all news report etc are wrong or few hardcore Android users posting on this forum.
The OP can also try searching
    Malware Android
    and
    Android security

    if this help

What 90 app stores, if the OP sticks to the market, then there will be nothing to worry about

Trollman english would help, as would some form of grammar.

The OP knows the risks, and has asked for help. You are not helping you are trolling.

  • Thank you everyone, I have installed AVG free for mobiles and Onavo to show my data usage. Managed to set up the sim lock and screenlock, Samsung Dive is the tracking system for the phone and I can wipe it remotely.

Appreciate all your advice, a bit less nervous now !
