No. As long as it didn't look like a wedding dress! :)

No not at all, as long as it wasn't long and flowing with a train.............. oo and she had a tiara.

I think cream/white are really popular dress colours, especially for summer.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • As others have said, I think it's not just colour but how bridal it looks.

Having said that, I expect to marry in the autumn or winter, and I don't plan to wear white myself so I might find it a little odd if someone came in a fancy white evening dress.

What I did think was odd once was when I went to a wedding and one of the girls who hadn't been asked to be a bridesmaid but knew what they were wearing picked out a dress for herself that was the same colour and very similar style at the top, different skirt.

It really gave the impression she felt left out and was trying to join in, bit sad really.

There is a reason to my question, someone i know got married and her sister turned upto her wedding in a knee lengh flowy kind of dress in white, she wasnt impressed at all but this person gets jealous of other people so it seemed it was done on purpose, she doesnt like not being centre of attention (the sister that is).even till this day she mentions how she couldnt believe out of all the dresses she could of wore she chose a an all white dress

Sounds like her reaction says as much about her than it does about her sister's behavior, if not more. Though if the sister knows he to be the jealous type it would sound like it was asking for trouble dressing in white.

Ah - spotted your update. If it's the sister that likes being the centre of attention that changes things. I wonder if she was thinking should have been made bridesmaid and decided to make a point by trying to upstage the bride a little?

Mind you, the bride really needs to get over it, why spoil your memories of what happened on what I would hope was otherwise a happy day? Better to focus on all the good things about it.

It's a fact of life that we have to cope with the family we get given, we get the luxury of choosing our friends.

Ah I think that dress sounds lovely, and similar to ones I have.

I know my friends very well and if any of them wore white/cream I wouldn't think anything of it and similarly I would wear white/cream to a friend's wedding, like I said a lot of my dresses are cream.

I think it's how well you know people etc but I wouldn't imagine any of my friends would think 'oooo i'll wear this dress to upstage the bride' it would more be 'oo I like this dress, I'll wear this'.

I'd think I'd be more excited about stuff to even analysis why people wore what they did.

I would expect whites/creams then as most guests arnt going to want to wear dark colours if its hot, plus i think whites/creams give a lovely effect on beach pictures :)

I got married in ivory and my best friend/witness wore a white dress with black accessories. It didn't seem even slightly weird - she looked lovely, and there was no mistaking who was the bride ;)
