Do SKY have rolling contracts?

Wifes parents not very well at the moment and may need to move into care. They have sky and i know he tried to get sky HD last year but nothing ever came from it for some unknown reason.
So we may need to end the contract, I guess its 30 days in writing? Or can i phone or email them?
But he doesnt know if he is in a contract or not? The box they have is old so i know he hasnt had anything new in the last 12 months but do they have rolling contracts which he wont know anything about?
He just says he didnt sign anything so he wont be in a contract. He changed phone supplier recently also so i think he is in for a shock.
Thanks.

No-if you've added no new services within the last 12 months you'll be out of contract.
Contract can be cancelled by phone-by the account holder.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
You don't have to sign anything to be in a contract! They have used the service, therefore a contract exists-a verbal contract has exactly the same validity.
They are not out of contract, but subject to no renewal or upgrades in the last 12m, they are out of minimum term, and on a 30 day rolling contract. So they just need to give 30 days notice. This needs to be done by the a/c holder over the phone (so retentions get a crack at it), or by you if you can pass security first. No free lunch, and no free laptop

There are special circumstances where sky will cancel a contract and people going into care/sheltered accommodation is one of those, account holders are normally the only people that can cancel the account however, if you have all the account details/password etc and speak to the accessibility team they may be able to help, are you parents able to cancel the account at the moment, if so, I would suggest that they do it, if they are unable to do this then you should speak to the accessibility team which means you don't have to speak to cancellations0

If the OP can pass security, then they can speak to cancellations. As long as the voice matches someone of the same sex as the account holder, that is sufficient. No free lunch, and no free laptop

macman - it's been done many times before, but if they are out of contract and moving into sheltered accommodation, talking to the accessibility team means they don't have to deal with cancellations at all and get all the profiling/offers crap being pushed at them0

Thanks, I know he added a sports channel on last year sometime, Paid a fee but not sure if that was directly to sky? Can you pay for channels that are not a part of sky?
Never had sky so i have no idea how it works.
Nice to know about the accessibility team , Not sure whats happening yet. Trying to get them
into care together but that may not be an option immediately.
So one maybe staying on. Just preparing myself.
Thanks

Look at the current billing and see if Sky Sports is included. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I have never seen a bill. He was in hospital for a while and i started paying his bills, Sky was paid by direct debit and i never once got a bill or statement from them.
I presume thats not normal? I only checked to see if the direct debits were being payed as normal and nothing got left out.

u can check his bills using the remote control for the sky +box if the box is connected to a phone line:
press the interactive button, then click on sky active, then click on my sky account (you will need his 4 digit pin number) then click on view my skill bill0 -
No bill is normal, getting one is! ncidentally, if service is being proviided, then he is 'in contract' and will remain so until he indicates he wishes to leave. Nobody is supplied with a service without a contract being in place. If you mean the minimum term, package changes can be altered as required, equipment changes are different, and result in an imposition of a minimum term of service, but after this it reverts to 30 days notice.0
