Shop at Tesco and get 10p per litre off - every little helps!

    How does this offer work?

Our diesel Mondeo costs a pretty penny to fill up; 10p per litre = £7 off a tank. Might be worth going the extra half mile to Tesco instead of shopping at Asda...

yes there's always a catch isnt there.... still, if you shop there anyway then this is probably the first petrol offer actually worth cashing in on!

Supermarkets have been doing this for ages.

With Tesco it used to be spend £40 and get 5p off a litre.

    Now it's £60 and 10p off.

Sainsburys did £50 and get 10p off for a while...they may well still do.

This is what petrol retailers want investigated though, as they see it as unfair competition, rather than merely competition. It's also had an effect, which has been shown by new research. Retailers around a supermarket will try and compete and bring their prices down, however....up to 5 miles away another of their forecourts will see a higher increase in prices to offset the loss of the one near the supermarket.

If you are shopping there anyway, its worth looking at. What is happenng though, again according to research is people are driving further to try and save the 10p a litre. So actually it ends up costing them more in fuel to try and save!

It is for the lack of competition/cartel situation if diesel prices are allowed to hit record highs given the recyclable options available and the basic nature of the fuel.

  • And yet there are still far too many cars on the road and most journeys take twice the time they should.

Id be happy if prices doubled if it meant I could actually get where I wanted to easily.

It's the record high by 0.01p, but doesn't take inflation into account so isn't really the record high at all.
  • We are thinking about going for an electric car for a 2nd car run around. We have a couple of free charge points all around where we live.

You can pick up a 2nd hand Gwiz with brand new batteries for about 3 grand.

Its tax free, group 1 insur so very cheap and reports are about 40-50 quid for electricity for 4K miles every yr.
Big deflation your debts are going up against everything else. I would not like to be a property owner with a big mortgage right now, pay off your debts ASAP!
  • The batteries in electric cars only last 5 years and cost a fortune to replace. You're better off getting a VW polo Bluemotion.

  • Fuel will keep going up even in a deflation as outstanding revolving credit is collapsing. Even though base money is expanding as units of fiat currency are created out of thin air and added to supply, its the worlds outstanding revolving credit that is coming down. More and more people and countries are paying down debts or defaulting and not borrowing more.

I think now is the time to buy one of these
