Hi tedblight, you would be better off sending a SAR, It cost a bit more (one off fee of £10) and they have to send you all the information they hold on you within 40 days. You can pay by cheque, look at this page below (1st post by dreamer33) where you will find a great example of a SAR that you can copy and paste to Word and put your details to it
Records will probably only go back 6 years though

You're welcome, hope the SAR gives you all the account numbers you need.
Yes PPI does cover Mortgages but on Mortgages, PPI is almost a necessity due to the amount of money involved. It would be foolhardy to not be covered adequately in the event of not being able to pay your Mortgage. From what I read in the posts (mainly from the likes of Magpiecottage and dunstonh) who are the legal eagles it's difficult to complain about Mortgage PPI, let alone try to get redress. From what I read not many cases are upheld. Mortgage PPI is normally tailored to your personal circumstances at the time and is usually sold with good advise given, unlike Loan and Credit Card PPI, hence the reason not many are upheld.Successes

thanks again, so once the banks send me the the account numbers, this should also have a copy of the credit agreement which would show up any PPI... then I would use a template letter from this website to summit a complaint.... then they would send me a cheque? lol or is it more complicated then that?0

Hopefully the SAR will come up with account numbers, nothing is guaranteed as it's down to what an office worker can find on file without too much digging. I doubt that you will get copies of the agreements (if you do all the better) but you do not need these unless you are not sure if you were paying PPI, the account numbers are the ones you want.
If you know you were paying PPI on any of the 4 loans with them and have a valid reason to think it was mis sold to you, then download the questionnaire and fill it in with the account numbers you will hopefully get from the SAR.
Send it off recorded delivery and keep copies of everything.
If you are not sure that you were paying PPI and the SAR doesn't shed any light, then it might be worth phoning and asking if any of your loans had PPI. Wait to see what comes back in the SAR and take it from there

Hi, just an update, HSBC have contacted me and passed my details onto their PPI dept. Not sure if that was the correct thing too do.
However today I got the following letter from Capital One... Where do I go from here? Sounds like they don't want to play ball with me. Heres the letter they sent....

Can I just ask a quick question. I'm just putting things together to try and claim back from HSBC and I was just wondering which address you write to?

Capital One are within their rights not to supply your credit agreement as the loan has finished. You could SAR them too if you are attempting to get account numbers or trying to find out if you had PPI

Thanks for the reply. I didn't have the account number (only the last 4 digits from my credit report) but the reply they just sent included my full account number, so I now know it :-)
However, I'm not sure if I had PPI on this account.0
