NPower Homecare- 7 Yr Old Boiler? Nightmare

We joined the Npower Homecare Scheme at it was cheaper than British Gas and offered the same cover.
What a mistake!
Our boiler is over 7 years old. It recently broke down and when the engineer came he looked at it for only a couple of minutes then said its a major job I'll have to speak with my boss.
Next day we received a phone call to say our boiler was deemed 'beyond economical repair', although the parts were available.
We were then offered £450 towards a new boiler,:j however, it had to be fitted by an NPower approved plumber.
After looking into the prices NPowers are all bumped up by around £1000 compared to local plumbers. Will they give anything towards these prices? No. :mad:
I hear they are regularly doing this on boilers over 7 years old to make money selling new ones. It is written it the small print they can do this with boilers of this age.
Please take care, if your boiler is over 7 years an NPower Homecare deal is a waste of time - totally worthless. We will never use them again.
