looking for a broadband provider, am torn between wanado and aol could anyone suggest or help, am with fast4 at the moment and although quite reliable it is very slow.
Would anybody get a referal fee for recomending me to a BB provider?
any help would be greatly welcomed.

Steve, any referral suggestions will be found on the Referral Board.
Can you give any reasons as to why you are thinking about Wannado or AOL which might help posters give their opinions.0 -

Hi Steve.
I've recently signed up with www.e7even.com
I'm shortly (3-4 weeks) going to be on a 2GB service (512K at the minute) with UNLIMITED download capability for only £10.21 a month until Feb 2007 (this calculation includes a one off £50 connection charge to BB since I was on dial-up)
OK I took advantage of 2 special offers, neither of which may ever be repeated, but who knows?
At the minute you can have FREE connection AND a FREE ADSL MODEM ROUTER (together worth £105)
You get this if you take out at least the £180 annual 512k service.
This is 512k speed but UNLIMITED download for £15 a month (x12 = £180)
In the month I've been with them everything has been fantastic.
I joined on the strength of many others recommending it.
Included are lots of bonus services that other ISPs charge more for.
eg. Free .uk domain name provided, registered and hosted.
Unlimited POP3 email accounts.
If you need more details PM me and I'll expand on how my contract came to be so cheap, and how you may be able to upgrade the speed or extend the contract period for a "minimal fee" at some point in the future. There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

thank you for replying
I narrowed it down to those two because AOL £17.99 512k and unlimited download or Wanado £17.99 1mb but with a 2Gb limit, since I am on dial-up would I notice the difference between 512k or 1mb speed. I don't think that I will use more than 2Gb but who knows what I may download in the future?
thank you for your help

thank you for the thought but after looking at the site I have to pay for ADSL & modem, with the bigger compies you get that free.
cheers for the link though
all the best

It would be most beneficial to other readers if you could post this information on the boards then everyone can get the benefit of the offer. Please note though if this is via a referral system, it needs to be posted on the referrers forum.

To save cost it is a good idea to go with a company which does not pass on the 58.75 activation fee. Although this does lock you in to a 12 month contract. Then after 12 months you can migrate on to another company at lower subscription cost and pay only a small migration fee or sometimes no fee at all (provided your service is on IPstream).
For usage caps remember that usage is usually always more than you expect it to be. Also some companies add the transmit and receive volumes together to get your usage for the month, so downloading 1GB can take up 1.5 or 2GB of 'usage'.
I would personally always avoid all of the companies that advertise on the television.
Look on adslguide.org.uk for user comments on the ISP they are using.0 -
I, personally, wouldn't go for the 1mb if it's limited (you just reach your limit quicker). Going from dial-up to broadband 512 should be great (our connection is split between 2 computers and is still plenty fast enough)
Just my 2p

thank you for all your help on this subject but I have gone for talk talk's new offer, it's only 14.99 p/m unlimited download 1 mb speed and free evening and w/end calls, plus free modem and connection and the sister in law gets a tenner referal. It seems like a win win situation but I am sure it will bite me in the !!!!!! soon.
thanks everyone :beer:0
