The other day, i was using my laptop when norton run a background scan. It finished scanning and said it had located a problem called 'Bloodhound.Malautoit' and i attempted to 'fix this.' However, some way through the fixing process, it crashed. I turned the computer off by the button, then when i loaded it up again I attempted to run a scan. It came up with a message saying 'Hotkey.exe has stopped working,' then became unresponsive again. I have no idea what Hotkey is. I loaded it up again the next morning and it was working fine throughout the day. I run a scan and it said it has removed everything so i thought nothing else of it. Today, I loaded my laptop up again, and it was on for about 3 hours when i had problems with the internet, as it became really slow. I attempted to close it and shut it down, but it would not respond so i turned it off by the button. I loaded it up again, and I ran a norton scan but it got stuck at 11,348, and then norton just closed. It also said there were no problems, which i thought was out of place as it usually picks up cookies, and i hadn't run a scan since yesterday. After norton unexpectedly closed i tried to load it up again, but it would not load for about 5 minutes and when it did load it became unresponsive. I had also loaded the internet up in the time it took norton to load, and it was working fine until norton came on, and it too became unresponsive. I had also been signed out of any websites i was signed into, but have since hanged my passwords. I had to turn my laptop off by the button again as it would not shut down. It also has updates to do, if it is relevant. The laptop is very new, and was bought as a christmas present. Can anybody please shine some light onto the matter?

Post the Norton scan report here so we can see exactly what was detected & removed.

Bloodhound.Malautoit is a heuristic detection for AutoIt compiled scripts that are considered malicious.

Because it was a heuristic detection it could have been a false positive and removed something it shouldn't.

Hotkey.exe has stopped working

Possibly related.

How would I go about doing this? I'm not using my laptop, I'm on a mac. Sorry if I sound a bit thick, i'm only 15.
Also, I tried to run another scan, but it went up to 11600 and then only done about 5 files every 5 minutes. The laptop is running very slowly. I also received the hotkey application error again.

The above data is from the scan completed yesterday evening. In scan history, it says that there are 4 'medium' things, but these did not appear in the scan. It says that they were blocked, and i do not know what this means.

hotkey.exe or similar is often the name of a program that many lappy makers use for the "extra" physical buttons on a laptop like e-mail button, vol button, etc.and on some makes if it stops working it can affect allsorts even if seemingly unrelated. What make & model laptop is it ?? That's the starting point, and the prog can normally be downloaded again from the manufacturer's website

tried using an online viru checker like trend and kapersky, then use malwarebytes.

Some people do not like norton/symantec a/v, and some do. I have had many friends and myself catch a virus while using their products, far greater than others including Mcaffee. If only norton/symantec av was as good as their advertizing strategy.
