Swapping over from Post-office BB to SKY

hello
I am swapping over my BB provider from post office to sky.
I have placed an order with sky and wondered do I need to inform the post office or does that process happen automatically?
I am fed up with Post Office, my line went off two weeks ago and after over a week of fussing and telling me the line was fine they sent out an engineer to fix it as it had been damaged by builders.
I still have no useable net though as my IP profile is set to 135k due to the fault and post office say to leave it a few days to fix itself - a few days its already been off two weeks!!
66 hours in and my router has a solid connection still with no drops and a downspeed of roughly 4500 odd (4meg) yet my ip profile is still 135k.
I have been told by countless folks to abandon them and go with sky or o2 - and as I dont have a normal external aerial Sky seemed like a good choice as i can add telly too (I havent had telly for about 15 years)
Will I remain on 135k ip profile until someone somewhere shifts there !!!! or will Sky possibly sort this for me as well?

You need to get a MAC from your current ISP otherwise you'll will incur a cease charge from BT,( used to be around £25) use of a MAC means this charge will be picked up by Sky.
Have you checked whether you can get either Sky or O2 LLU broadband at your local exchange? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
If you switch, and the line is damaged again by a third party, you'll have exactly the same scenario-it's still BT OR that will fix it (or not).
It normally takes up to 10 days for the line to sych at the best speed after disconnection. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
