Yes I think you are right Free....... the thing is I am not sure what the correct dns settings SHOULD be.

they should have been provided you bu your isp. i you have 'lost' them then you really need to contact your isp (or look at their website) to obtain the correct settings. after this, punch them into the network connections dns tab. it's not unusual for spyware/viruses to hijack your dns settings - this has happened to me at least twice! take care out there :)

  • It is a valid address, however it has not been purchased and is available from many many domain suppliers:-

    living-in-the-sun.net Universal
    living-in-the-sun.org Universal
    living-in-the-sun.biz Universal
    living-in-the-sun.info Universal
    living-in-the-sun.co.uk United Kingdom
    living-in-the-sun.org.uk United Kingdom

All the above are available to purchase. There is a site called livinginthesun.com that is about Spain?

In THIS case it would seem the original poster has mis-typed their address. As for the !!!!!! problem, it could be a virus (although the running of several checkers should rule that out), it could be a dns server that sends invalid links to 'certain' pages so finding your ISPs DNS servers or using the ones at OpenDNS.com as a test is another thing to try. It could also be that it is spyware and trying adaware and 'search & destroy' could shift something out that shouldnt be there.

Are you absolutely sure that's the right address? All my browsers and pcs can't access it and according to whois it has never been registered. Does it definitely include those hyphens and does it end in .info? Even without any spyware problems I don't see how the site could be accessed by anyone.

One place to check is the HOST file on your PC. This file is often (and easily) hijacked to redirect your browsers to a different location.

Type the following in to the Run box from your start menu: %windir%\system32\drivers\etc

In there you will find a file called "hosts". There should only be some descriptive text and then one additional line that reads:

    127.0.0.1 localhost

If there is anything else you need to delete it - the additional content not the file.

I have to agree that the address is not registered - it may be a valid address - but nobody has paid to use it. see here http://whois.domaintools.com/living-in-the-sun.info

Gaitita have you use the Immunize(sic) feature of Spybot ?
In Spybot - Click the Blue and white shield/Immunize, then click the green cross to add 10,000 "bad" sites to your restricted site list. Then check for the !!!!!! again.

The link given above will fix 99% of hijacking and trojan etc problems, the posters ( i.e. people trying to help you on this tech board ) on this site are not psychic and do not know if you have followed advice given, if you do not tell them.
The first 4 post of this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133269 should be followed - if you experience problems following these 4, then it may indicate that you have a 1% problem and should be posting a hijackthis log, or stating what problems you have.

Do not attack somebody for asking if you have done something that will rid you of 99% of hijacking/spy/malware/trojan problems.

If op had followed the MALWARE/SPYWARE REMOVAL GUIDE posted above then CCleaner would have been run, to empty the temp files. This posting has current "best practise" and saves OP's getting lots of helpful things to try and do...
    1) Run Ccleaner with the default options to clean out temporary files. Only use the Default Scan on the Windows Tab and select Run Cleaner

Thank you everyone for your help......... I have followed all the steps, including using the Immunise feature GreenNotM.
Beanz, I also did what you suggested, the thing there was :

    127.0.0.1 localhost which is correct?
This is a report from High Jack This, I would be grateful if someone would look at it and advise me if there is anything there that shouldn't be there.
    Thank you:o

That list of processes certainly looks alright. Also, the 127.0.0.1 entry is fine in the hosts file.

It might be worth you disabling the following Browser Helper Object to see if it has any effect:
