Well all the rest of us can hope is, after reading this thread you'll realise how difficult you're making it for other shoppers.

if I have to park next to someone else I always park next to a car that is reversed in.

By parking next to someone who as rather stupidly reversed into a supermarket car park surely you run the risk of having the side of your car bashed and scraped by bottles and cans as they struggle between your car and theirs because it's the only way they can get their weekly shop into the boot.

Which is why I never reverse into a supermarket car park, it makes no sense.

Why would you reverse into a supermarket parking space? If they're all like around here, you can't get a trolley between the cars, and if you have bags of stuff you end up bashing them on your, and the neighboring, car. If you shop at Lidl/Aldi etc. then you usually end up just emptying the contents of your trolley into the bags in the boot.

Why does me driving in forward make it difficult for other shoppers?

Because as i've said you're going in at an angle, so the cars on either side of you may need to struggle to get out as they try and swing around. And you're going to be backing out into traffic.
It's a long long time since i past my test or read the Highway Code but i'm sure i'd have failed the test if i'd have driven into the parking bay.

I have to drive into a parking bay, otherwise we would never get the wheelchair* out (or in) of the back of the car! I always make sure though, that I park equally between the lines and that I am perfectly straight, the boys always laugh at me and how 'precise' I have to be.

That said, I can reverse into spaces and can also parallel park pretty well...I have to be able to otherwise I would never get parked outside my house especially when I am left with a space not much bigger than my car.

*No bluebadge as I haven't quite got my head around admitting to everyone I need help.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Once drove a 1 day old car in to a supermarket car park, parked in the empty car park as far away as I could get from the door, not more than a dozen cars in.
Come out and some twonk has not only parked next to me but opened the door and dented mine.
They tried denying it, but I already had photos of the paint on the edge of their door.
How on earth I resisted strangling them I dont know.

The point has been missed, and by all, just do what the usual audi/beemer/lexus/prat car owners do and take 2 spaces, simples "innit"
