I used to work for Middlesbrough council and can confirm that if she is a pensioner on a pension or low income she does not have to pay. All she needs to do is take down proof she is on a pension and over 60 and you should have one delivered in 7-10 days :)

Not sure if they knew she was on a low income, although they helped her fill out the forms (including what income she has)
But thanks all, she found out who her local councillor was and after contacting her she had a bin within 3 days. The comment earlier about lazy bin men was harsh, the majority do a fantastic job, look what happens when they strike. Its like any profession, lazy good for nothing working along side hard working dedicated.

In our area if your wheelie bin is stolen or lost and you ask for another one its at a cost of £99 so making your £25 looking good value for money.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • My garden recycling bi was stolen two days ago, phoned council and they want to charge £25 for a new one. I asked what if i reported it to the police, there would still be a £25 even with a crime number.... I cannot afford this , why do we pay council tax?

    Buy one.
But take it with you when you move.
