I will also get working on daily readings of the meters and get working out the kWh values

Multiply the gas (metric) meter reading by 11.2 to get an approximate conversion to kWhrs.

Hi gorillathebino,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems.

You advised that youa re on the Unifi Capped 2013 Tariff, do you use the Unifi system to help manage your usage? It may be you can use this to help reduce your consumpiton, you can call 0845 094 2803 for advice on how to get the best from it.

Further to this I cna check your account and make sure that we are billing you correctly, and also that the Direct Debit has been set accurately.

My e-mail address is onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com

Kind regards

You need to ask Scottish Power to confirm to you the "annual review" date for the Direct Debit recalculation.

But you can't do that. You are in a deemed a/c with the existing supplier at the new address from day one. Before you switched back to SP you would have needed to register with the existing supplier first.
A closing reading would have been taken at the old address and a final bill issued to close that account.

The existing supplier was SP so there was no need to register with anyone else I went through the entire process to change address and keep the account as it was.

It is still vital to enquire of Scottish Power what is the "annual review" date for the calculation of Direct Debits.
• When Scottish Power and EDF have tried to put up my direct debits I have contacted them and said I didnt want to increase my payment as I was in credit, especially when I was in credit after the winter bill. I havent had any issue with this so far. try and contact them again with your figures

• Just had the phone call from SP, the cheapest option they can offer me is £168 and I will stay on my unifi tariff. I enquired about my annual review date and this is in May.

Anyway I have read my meters just a wee while ago and the readings are:

on 15/02:

• Gas was 1098 units, converted to kWh (using units x calorific value (40) x correction value (1.02264) / 3.6) this worked out to be 12476.208 kWh
• Electric was 49095 kWh

today (17/2):

• Gas reading was 1115 units or 12669.373 kWh
• Electric reading was 49135 kWh
The amount used I have worked out to be:

• Gas, 17 units or 193.65 kWh
• Electric, 40 kWh
To me now that I have calculated things out I am shocked at how much gas I have used I am also shocked that my electric is over what I expected.

I would really appreciate all your opinions on this I need to cut my usage and how the hell can I do that.

It's looking as if the consumption may be accurate after all. In an earlier post I asked "Only space and water heating makes a bill as large of you have. What temperature do you like to keep the house at?" but you didn't really answer.

Some things such as glazing and insulation are unfortunately outside your control though you can always ask. However the heating times and temperature are under your control and have the biggest effect on consumption. What time and temperature controls are fitted and what are their settings?
