    diy.
    remove old tiles.
    you dont even need to replaster, just patch up roughly if really required, then use aquapanel round the wet areas (bath/shower).
    then tile over the top. totally waterproof, brilliant product.
    Get some gorm.

    like the others have said, work out your tiles to look correct on the eye, and that you dont end up with really small cuts at the top or bottom of your walls, and check that any window heights work out ok depending on if your tiling in them or jusy up to them as these will stick out like a saw thumb,though this will take a little time at the start could save u a big headache later. good luck ... hope all goes well and yes the preperation of the walls is vital to a good solid job, make sure you arnt fixing tiles to any loose or blown plaster as this isnt good news....
