  • They were on the email preview on the facebook page, When I looked before midnight it had already had over 500 views. As the offer was 4 per customer only the first 250 visitors got them.
Now I am not sure howe many of us get the email or how many of us that look at the freebies but look at the publicity the site got for giving away a few reflectors.

So Radflek have been told that companies are not allowed to post on MSE directly, but as an individual who works at the company (and this is me speaking personally) I can assure you that this is simply not true. It was never a trick and they never said 1,000 sheets. They gave away 1,000 4-radiator packs to 1,000 different people and in fact ended up giving away 1,600 instead to try and help more people take part.

This is what I did 4 years ago and they are still there behind the rads. I didn't do the whole house as one rad is to close to the wall
Make your own heat reflector to put behind the radiators by taping heavy-duty aluminium foil onto a piece of cardboard with the shiny side of the foil facing out. The radiant heat waves will bounce of the foil into the room instead of being absorbed by the wall behind the radiator. If your radiators have covers, it is also helpful to attach a piece of foil under the top of the cover.

    HTHs.

The strangest thing about all this is that the MSE website said that all of them were taken at approximately 12:03pm, when this wasn't the case.

I, and a few others, persevered and continually refreshed relevant page on the Radflek website until it appeared - which was at 12:13pm for me.

When I did so, there were just over 300 left (there was a counter saying so). So they weren't all taken as MSE suggested, and why they removed the link, well...

Just look at some of the comments towards the bottom of here for proof: http://www.hotukdeals.com/freebies/heads-up-free-9-99-radiator-reflectors-becoming-available-midday-today-1145508#post13729365

It's really not that strange at all, the free 1,000 packs ran out in 3 minutes, hence MSEs statement, then because the site crashed Radflek decided to give away another 600 which ran out at 12.19 when the site came back up. People do love a conspiracy but sadly the reality is much more boring.

Oh my God people.... get some perspective.... companies are not obliged to offer freebies and special promotions, it isn't your right, it is a privelage

  • Mmm...Now I wonder why I went to golf today rather than go for this offer ? Perhaps I read the MSE email yesterday and guessed what was going to happen ? The website would be overwhelmed with responses ? It could be a scam ? or wasn't I bothered cos I used the foil/cardboard solution as advised in a previous post ?

Anyway I think that I probably enjoyed my day better than most of those people applying for this offer.;)

Now back to watching the Hulk play football !:)
  • Care to comment @RadFlek?

    Hmmm, no reply still?

    Thanks very much @RadFlek

Please don't interpret this in the wrong way but, even in the unlikely event that you get a response from RadFlek, I doubt whether you will get a satisfactory outcome that you are looking for.

As far as they are concerned, they have got a fantastic promotion to over 6 million MSE users, which has offered 1000 free units and 20% off to those users that weren't successful. I can only presume that a number of people have gone for the 20% off offer; although I don't undertsand why as I have advised previosuly people can get a much cheaper option.

Please also remember that MSE is an open to everyone (i.e. anyone can just read forum posts without being an active forum member subscriber or contributor) and anyone can apply for any offer.

    HTHs.
  • My experience was this I spoke to Radflek via Internet and asked what time the offer was from they cut me off and up popped a standard call me by phone notice. As a result of rereading MSE I found it was 1200 today. Therefore I was online and waiting till 1200 exactly and had no luck getting the Link to work after around 3 more attempts I gave up and reported it as a dead link (still waiting a reply) Naive I know but this is my first use of the site to get a freebie. It has left a bad taste in my mouth and as a result I will use this site for information only and use one of the alternative solutions mentioned above.

Olifarago posted a response on this thread and stated that the company have been told they can't comment directly:

However, I don't understand why people are getting so upset over a freebie. Those who "missed out" didn't actually lose anything.

6 million people receive the MSE newsletter and there were only a thousand to give away. If all those receiving the newsletter had applied, fewer than 0.02% of them would be successful. A quick google search shows that's roughly the same odds as catching a fish with no bait. ;)
