Bought a phone from the well known retailer of Jersey,the phone arrived with French manual and two pin mains charger - is this good enough grounds to reject the item and obtain a refund?

Depends what their T&C's are for refunding. Can you not just ask them to send a UK charger and manuals?

First time I have done this!
I ordered a Nokia 1600 as above on 3rd.Feb., following the PAYG phones article on 31st.Jan. Martin's comments were "available for £14.95 when buy £10 airtime from Phones4U." I paid £24.95, then waited over 14 days as they seemed unable to deliver on the promised day. Eventually received it, and you guessed it, no free airtime. I rang them, and they said I had to contact T-Mobile, who obviously said it is nothing to do with us.
I rang Phones 4U again, and was told by a supervisor that the offer had not come out yet, so I could not have seen the offer advertised on 31st.Jan.!
I said when the offer came out, would they let me have the credit, and she said that it was too late, as the 7 days from the date of the order, when I could have complained, or returned the phone, had expired, although I did not receive it for 14 days. I am not making this up, Martin.
I think the word conned comes to mind.
If you are reading,Martin, please note that I have not found any means of contacting your web site to complain.
SO, order nothing from Phones4U, as you will be conned. As for Martin's web site, I reserve judgement for the moment, but you have a very unhappy punter out there.
