Pet Insurance - Labrador or Labrador Retriever????

  • They're mixing up dog breed and dog use without making it clear that this is what they're doing, which is a bit dodgy. Keeping an Alsatian as a guard dog is riskier than keeping one as a family pet and you'd expect the cost of insurance to reflect this. But sounds like it doesn't.

There's a vague smell of mis selling about this - how is the pet owner in the street meant to know that "Labrador Retriever" doesn't mean "Labrador Retriever" but instead "Labrador Retriever used as gun dog", and that the correct answer for their pet is really "Labrador", if you don't tell them?
  • Just renewed my Labrador pet insurance with Directline (tried to squeeze an extra £4 compared with new quote!)

They only have Labrador Cross, Labrador Retriever or Labradoodle as options. No "Retriever" on it own.
Mr Straw described whiplash as "not so much an injury, more a profitable invention of the human imagination—undiagnosable except by third-rate doctors in the pay of the claims management companies or personal injury lawyers"

  • I have now picked my insurance with Direct Line! They quoted the same low price as E&L and have a good cover for vet fees (£4000) compared with other insurers (£2000)
    :T
Thanks for the tip about E&L
