An elderly relative of mine has just had a call from 'sky' saying her warranty has just run out on her sky box and it needs renewing ASAP.
Thankfully she did not give them any info, as she thought it was strange that they did not know what type of sky box she had. She took their number and said she would get a relative to call back to arrange it.
I googled the phone number 08448009679 expecting it to come up with information on 'who calls me' or something similar, but this phone number is (or was) connected to a tour operator who do treks through Ecuador!!?
I called the number and got a recorded message saying 'welcome to digi club we are closed' which at least confirmed to me that they didnt arrange trecks anymore :rotfl:
Two minutes later, got a call back from them, I said i had called the wrong number as I wanted sky (which I did!) This call left a littlehampton number on 1471, googling this I found a very basic website for the company.
Im assuming they are a real company offering warranties on sky boxes, but think it is very underhand to state they are actually calling from sky, and that its SO important that the 'premium is renewed' on a none existing policy with such urgency!
Anyone else come across this company?

They are NOT a real Sky company! Sky only sell warranty thru Legal & Domestic.Anything else is a SCAM!!A simple Google search does not bring any results for them.

These plans are a wast of money. Why pay Sky £90 odd when a service call is only £65 or,if you haggle,free.0 -
Thanks spike, and I do agree with what you say. Its like any other electrical item in the house, I may or may not wish to take out an extended warranty. What really annoyed me is that the company stated they were sky, not a separate company that just happened to offer cover for digital boxes!
Very sneaky really, especially when they were so adament that she needed to renew the policy there and then.
My guess is that they are working through some data list (they had my mums name, address and phone number so probably electoral role), with the hope that the majority of people answering will actually be sky customers, and therefore potential digi club customers!0 -
I'd report them to Sky,you never know, they may give you a months free viewing...0

:rotfl::rotfl:, Like your style! I was hoping for at least 15% off my next trek through ecuador, but dont think I'll get that either!;)
At least we have hopefully stopped her from buying something she doesnt need, from someone who isn't who they say they are, and possibly this thread may come up if someone else googles the phone number:T0 -
The phrase used is normally 'Sky partners', or 'working with Sky'. Most people only hear 'Sky'.
Dodgy BT resellers use exactly the same technique. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Just a quick update, sent an email to sky, they replied saying were very interested in the details of this company and want to take it further. They also explained they had already successfully taken several similar companies to court for misrepresenting themselves as being from or working on behalf of Sky. Sky confirm they do not work with this company at all and will be investigating this.0

Hi
My father had a stroke recently and has had money removed from his account by digiclub even though he has no memory of them contacting him.
Have phoned them on there main number several times to try and sort things out with results from ringing with no answer to going to an answer machine to going to a mobile answer machine but never answering,so god knows how you get service!
Have also wrote to them asking to cancel again no response.
Have reported it to the bank who are investigating.
Based on this I believe it is a scam.0
