Hello everyone,
I am new here, i was wondering if any of you could help me, so here i go...
From day one ive had problems like disconnecting, nothing to big until last month, where i got the bill though and it was £68 when it is suppost to be £22 a month, i called them up and i asked them why it was so high, they said that they tried to take it out my bank but it wasnt enough money in there which there wasnt but they tried taking it out at a different date and due to me not having money in there they smacked another £10 on top, but anyway this morning i checked my bill online as i cancelled the direct debit which i told them i was going to last time i called them and they said they would send me a bill in the post, so i rang them again this morning and they said i didnt, when i first signed up with them they said i would have free evening and weekend calls which i havnt been getting so i asked about that and they claimed that i should of contacted them sooner because ive been with them a year WHICH I HAVNT i explained to the guy i havnt been with them that long and he said "well youve been with us 6 month" which i havnt either i have only been with them 5 months.. anyway this months bill again is £55 and i am sick to death of them. (i hardly use the phone etc so it isnt that and im not over using my MB)
I was going through my starter pack to look for my contract details etc to see how i would be able to cancel it and i came across my Residential Services Contract which i was suppost to sign and send back which i didnt, i didnt even know i had it didnt do it on purpose, would this help me get out of paying cancellation fees and help me cancel my services with them assuming that i dont have a contract with them??
Sorry for going on a little, if anyone needs further information feel free and ill respond asap.

No it wouldn't, whether you sign or not is irrelevant, you have accepted the T&C's by using the service for 5 months, so you are in contract until the end of your minimum term (12 or 18m) regardless. Cancelling your DD will just result in higher charges, you need to address the issue of why your bill is 3 times higher than you expected.
Your original paperwork should specify which tariff you are on (you don't say) and which services are inclusive. Are you sure that you are not on a standard VM deal whereby the price is lower for the first few months (usually 3 months) and then increases steeply?
PS: if you have had notice of the upcoming price increase (due in April) then you may be able to use that to void your contract without an ETC. But remember that if you are on a VM cable service then you have nowhere else to go-you will need a BT based landline installing or reconnecting first in order to get any ADSL broadband service. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Sorry, I have to take issue with macman. You are in contract until you cancel. the 12 months is ONLY the minimum term you agreed to, and once this is reached, you can cancel with 30 days notice. The contract itself is not affected.
More to the point, VM's prices are going up in April, and as a result your anticipated pricing will get even mre out of kilter. The benefit to you, is that you can now cancel without penalty but only if you call and say that due to the price increase, you would like to terminate.0
