they have offered you a replacement, I'd take it - if you don't and probs later your position may be more difficult to argue.

Your second pic clearly shows that it was knocked around during transit; to make the panel lift like that, must have had some rough treatment.

    Good luck

They'll just restore it themselves anyway. Take the replacement.
  • Getting it picked up on Friday for a replacement, lets hope the replacement come appropriately packed!

Will they send me another refurb? It would be awesome if they gave me a new one instead :rotfl:
  • i got a very expensive dell laptop in a box like this. was a used laptop but the box says dell on it. i was shocked when i opened the box and seen the laptop in the bottom of the box. to be honest the box seems very secure. you push back the sides of the insert and it locks the laptop in place, mine was tight around the laptop , looked a little like it was shrink wrapped. little or no chance of it moving, i cant see how that damage could happen, unless it wasnt put on right in the first place. plus your laptop looks like it is moving freely under the packaging. did you cut it to remove the laptop ?
  • It was not locked into place, it was not stuck down or shrink wrapped, there was no bubble wrap or protective plastic of any kind, except for the plastic film covering the HP logo.

There are a good 3-4 inches of space between laptop and sides of box and lid, when the box arrived I could hear something banging around inside and I just presumed there was a smaller box within the box, but there wasn't, just the laptop sliding and banging around.

It was simply a laptop placed into a large box, nothing else.

Edit to add: That secondary piece of plastic film was not attached to the laptop, it was just a thin film that was loose also.
  • Batteries cant be stored inside a device so that answers that... Did you go refund?
  • I'm aware that the battery couldn't be plugged into the laptop during transit, I'm not an idiot :rotfl:

It was the back panel that had lifted up which caused me worry. I only mentioned the battery cause I thought it was funny that the battery had bubble wrap but the laptop didn't :D
