Is it possible to give me a bit of information regarding What steps to take. My boyfriend checked his Natwest bank recently to find it wiped out by Wonga payments. He as never had dealings with them. He rang his bank who informed him it does seem like fraud, there is still payments pending from Wonga so he as been told those also will be taken out. He is under the impression all his monies will be refunded. How as Wonga been able to take payments without his debit card number? Also besides his bank doing the necessary work is there anything he should be doing?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Please go to aloadofwonga dot com - I am a Wonga Victim also and might be able to help. The site explains it.0 -
so i got home from work the other day to discover 2 letters (both exactly the same) from Wonga saying i failed to make payments on my loan...
never in my life have i used wonga.
instantly i called them up, they wouldnt tell me ANYTHING as it breached the DPA... :rotfl:... so i called the police to get a log number.
the next day i called wonga back to give them the log nuber for this to be passed onto the fraud team. whilst on the phone i asked the man the last couple of numbers in the account number that the loan was paid into, 71... not mine. also the email address, yahoo.co.uk.. again not mine however he said that in the start of the email address it was my name.. :S
i also asked when the loan was taken out, he said 25th september... intresting as i wasnt even in the country on that date (also didnt use my bank card abroad). i think the man on the phone gave me more information than he should have but i guess it still doesnt really tell me much.
i am currently waiting for the wonga graud team to get back to me as i only reported it yesterday. thankfully, no money has been taken out of my account but my bank has also been informed of whats going on so they have an alert on my account.
so.... who done it??? :mad:0 -
Had a call this morning from Santander to say the following amounts had been attempted to be taken from my bank account from Wonga.com
3/10/2012 5am Registered with company
5/10/2012 5am £258.02
5/10/2012 8am £258.02
6/10/2012 5am £500.39
6/10/2012 8am £500.39
6/10/2012 8.45am £500.39
Thankfully my bank declined the payments and cancelled my card, when I rang Wonga all they said was I needed a police crime report number, which I've now done before they will discuss it with me any further.
Will ring Wonga again on Monday, but absolutely no way have we ever applied for a loan let alone look at their details online knowing how bad the interest rates are with this company.0 -
Hi,
last friday wonga took around £230 from my natwest account in 7 seperate transactions of £5 to one that was £118.67. i am 17 years old doing my A-levels and that drained my account to a grand sum off £0.55. i rang the bank to report this and at first the guy i spoke too seemed to think i was just lying as if i had taken the loans and didnt want to pay them back, then i reminded him i was 17 which i am pretty sure means i cant take any form of a loan. i was then put through a few more people until finally they said they would refund the money that day and cancel the card. they said that they were going to investigate and maybe get policed involved etc. it has been a stressful experience but hopefully it will get sorted, they said there are some forms i need to fill in but apart from that i have no idea where they are at with the investigation.
I am very surprised NatWest let the payments out as im under 18 and legally cant get a loan and even if they accepted it anyway I would not be obliged to pay them back
Ive been searching around the internet and it seems there is allot of people who have been spontaneously losing money all over the place from wonga in particular it makes you wonder how this is still an ongoing problem.

Wonga are ignoring all my e mails. Contrary to their claim to get back to you within 48 hours of a complaint. Also mailed the financial ombudsman and not heard from them either. At least my bank are being together about it.0

Hi, I'm a newbie to the forum. I too have had my bank account emptied by Wonga at the weekend!
There is an e-petition which I thought would be on interest asking for payday loan companies to be closed down. If the link doesnt work just google 'e petitions payday loans'
good luck to everyone getting their money back0 -
I've just had 500 quid taken out of my bank by Wonga. I've never had any dealings with them before. I couldnt believe after reading on this site how many people are having the same trouble. It's absolutely ridiculous. Is it a message to us to actually get a loan and hope that someone else will pay it off for us like we've had happen to us. I doubt that. Anyway they need shutting down, they are not a safe and secure site and they shouldnt be advertising on tv, I suppose we are getting the image with the advert that some people are not able to run the site but I'll say no more on that. I'm hoping Santander will sort it out for me as I've had to get an extension on my overdraft to cover my bills until then. Thanks guys for your experiences.

How long have you given wonga to sort it out ?

Nothing wrong with pay day loans, the problems occur when those who borrow dont pay when agreed.
What should be banned are the loan broker sites eg you pay a fee to get a loan. Its just stupid, anyone who gives away they're own money to get a loan needs to seriously think if they should be allowed to handle money.0 -
if you are a victim of wonga you should report it to the police, your bank and wonga if you know the person who get your details from eg online fraudster or a postman or lady. just think about it
register with cifas tell them that you have been suffer id theft0
