To all you techies out there , could you please tell me the best way of storing MP3 files plus many photos?
The reason being my daughter has many downloaded tracks in MP3 format and several photographs that she would like to keep. But peing the pessimist she is, she thinks that if the PC crashed (which it has done many times before and I've had to reinstall XP from scratch, and so losing a lot of data) she would lose all the music tracks and the once in a lifetime photos. We reguraly transfer tracks to CD , but is there any easier way of storing a whole bunch at once until you no longer need it?
Help would be appreciated.

Losing the pictures will really be sad.
Offsite backups (multiple) is the best method. With broadband it is much easier to do. eg I can backup my files to my parents computer and vice versa.0 -
I put mines onto usb i got a 4gb usb stick for £22 so that holds all my files etc.

or burn them onto a dvd. Thats a helluva lot of music and pics
I also have an external drive which I save all my music to as well as having it on my regular drive. You can get a huge amount of storage on a drive for around the £50 mark and you can use it to back up everything else on your pc as well

As Coolagary said, back them up onto a dvd/cd as data.
This is the way I store and back up all my music, pictures etc ready for when I want to put them back on my pc again. The Female of the Species is More Deadlier than the Male.0 -
DVD+R are said to be the most reliable discs for backup. They'll hold up to 4.7GB of files on a single layer.0

There appears to be about 46 hours of MP3 music files and 40-50 photosalbertross wrote:How much data have you got?0 -
has she got a MP3 player? if she's a decent one she can put it all on there. The chances of losing the mp3 player and the computer breaking at the same time would be slim.0

Hmmm that sounds interesting, how many MP3 files would that hold roughly and did you get it off e-bay? Plus can you delete and store files at will or is it a long process? (having not used one of these devices before)baby_fratelli wrote:I put mines onto usb i got a 4gb usb stick for £22 so that holds all my files etc.
