How to switch from bulldog/pipex?

I have a bulldog/pipex phone/broadband connection for which i am now paying £29.50/month. No calls are included in this price.

I want to switch to another provider. However, i ma told i cant get a MAC because i have to switch my tel line to BT and then find another supplier of telecom and/or broadband connection which means i will be without a connection for upto a month.

Does any one know if this is the case and if yes, any way to manage this better?

thx

I am currently paying £35 a month for bulldog line rental/unlimited phone calls 24/7 and I get 12 meg broadband. I think its fantastic value considering bulldog has no caps on their downloads.

If you do consider changing it is true that you have to change your line back to BT before you can switch providers. This could take anything up to a month..but i am not entirely sure.

I dont blame you for wanting to leave this 2 bit outfit! Service was OKish but billing was a joke in the extreme! thats why I left them!

Guess what they are still billing me and Im not even a customer anymore! So make sure they cancel your account.

I made the switch in December. Unfortunatly, you will have to bite the bullet and be without BB for a couple of weeks or so. You can use dial up in the mean time... its not ideal, but what did you do before BB?

There is no MAC code because you cannot migrate from an LLU service to another provider.

If you want to port your number to BT, ring BT and they will give you a date when your phone line will be moved. After the move it will take 24-48 hours before it will show up on the system that you have a BT phone line. You can then ring the provider of your choice for an installation date of your new BB service.

life without BB..cant remember it!!! looks like it will need to be done sometime or another..
  • If the line was once a BT line then the easiest thing to do is contact BT and request an RTD, Return To Donor. I am told this is the most hassle free way as BT deal with all the hassle on your behalf! Once the line is transferred you will need to sign up with an ISP so you will be without BB for a period but you will be able to use a dial up.
