Comet has changed hands so you would think teh new owners would be wanting to provide some customer service.

Have you tried calling Hotpoint directly to see if they can intervene in this mess?

I had an issue with a Hotpoint fridge freeezer bought from Power House back in 2004 together with a service plan. Anyway the same fault kept coming back, we loose all our food etc and engineer keeps coming out. In the end i went straight to Hotpoint and they sent an engineer around condemned the unit and replaced it with an upgraded model. By the way Power House were rude and refused to replace, but then they went under so some justice.

  • do it my way, dump the machine outside their store first thong saturday morning and tell everybody how bad their warranty service is, when they tell you to leave, DEMAND a new machine, and make sure you inform the local media what is happening.

Direct action usually works. It worked for me when Virgin media kept calling me to try and sell me their services, i told them to stop, they carried on calling, so i walked into one of their offices and refused to leave until it was sorted, the guard would not get anyone to see me and i refused to leave until the called the Police. I got the incident reference, called and emailed them warning them that i was taking them to court, funny, the calls stopped

Rest assured Rose [STRIKE](& the Dr human)[/STRIKE];) live on a parralel universe just like Comet do ?;)

Just wish I could remember the CEO email address for this company in this world !;):)
  • I have just found out a bit more about the service side of Comet as posted by marmitepotatoes above, so thanks for your post.
Comet has announced proposals to reduce its investment in electrical field repairs to focus resources more single-mindedly on store operations, so it will be more sell, sell, sell for them without the hassle from dissatisfied customers. I sympathise with those who will loose their jobs, as some employees have said that the press knew before they did. However, as far as customers are concerned, I wonder how will this affect those who have taken out a 5 year warranty?

I believe they have already decided on cutting the 450 support staff (both call centre and Field Repairer's) and are looking at outsourcing/offloading the repairs to other companies.

What it means? longer times for repairs.
