kim - don't fall into the Sky trap of '1000s of channels' - decide what channels it is you want to watch and take it from there.
  • That is so wise.

Trouble is that the packages offered by all companies have channels all picked by someone else!!

No-they are selected in order to ensure that to get the channels you are most likely to want, you have to buy more than one pack!

  • You know, so many people on facebook have told me to scrap my tv and watch it all on the puter. And thats a real option without a child living with me!!!! :rotfl:

    Hello everyone

    I'm new :)

I hope you can help. I've been a Sky customer for years and yesterday I saw the light and terminated my subscription. :j

I now have two Sky + boxes through which I appear to be watching freesat channels. But I cant record or pause using these old Sky boxes.

Can anyone advise what I should do to be able to pause/record relatively cheaply?

    many thanks

    kim

You could install a mod/ hack on the Sky Box, but don't do that it's probably illegal and Sky won't like it much- try Googling it though, I'm sure not all the stuff is....... (Sorry I can't post links since I'm new as well )

Otherwise the simplest method would be just to buy a digibox with recording capabilities.

Have you tried looking at Virgin Media?- they provide quite a good value service!

yes that's an excellent idea!- just buy a cable from Amazon to link your computer to the TV, and you could use services such as Netflix (OD TV Programme Archive), BBC iPlayer (has the ability to watch Live TV), Lovefilm for movies etc..... or you could purchase other web Live TV services.

The best thing would be that you would have a nice big screen for your computer as well when you wanted to use it as a PC.

Alas, only available to the less than 4 million homes which are in cabled areas.

I think you will find if you could post the link, an instant PPR would follow, MSE is pretty strict when it comes to advising on illegal activities, particularly if a link to an illegal service is included.

OP, I would not recommend following such advice, should you be caught, simply telling the judge someone on a forum suggested you do it, wont really wash down well.

Which will only work if your TV happens to support the relevant service.
