  • I have to say after years of trying all sorts nothing compares to vineagar and water and a microfibre cloth is a MUST :D
I also have the added benefit of being able to use RO water on my outside windows as my OH is a marine fish keeper ;) So no buffing- just rinse and go !
  • Buy spray cleaner from a stained glass supplier like Tempsford - it's amazing stuff
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow

Liquid ammonia is a great glass cleaner (and general degreaser) you should be able to buy it from the traditional type of hardware store.

I use ammonia too, but I dilute it quite a bit with some water in a spray bottle and use newspaper. One sheet to clean and another to polish the glass at the end. If you do the polishing step quickly before any streaks dry the glass looks perfect at the end. So, I tend to do big windows like the patio doors in two sections.
  • Slightly expensive initially but I use a Karcher window vacuum! I don't use any cleaning solution at all just spray water, for stubborn marks put a bit of washing up liquid in then use the vacuum and hey presto ! High street RRP £70 but with a bit of searching around got mine for £49.99. You may be aprehensive but it really does work and with no effort whatsoever :) no more polishing required!

I use plain water and an ecloth on all my glass and stainless steel and it leaves them smear free and spotless.

Warm soapy water (ie stardrops/washing up liquid & a little vinegar to cut through grease) Sponge it on like a window cleaner does & use a rubber squidgey wiper, really cheap to buy on most supermarkets. You can usually buy them with one side rubber & other side sponge. Quickest way to streak free windows Ive found. You can always wipe over with a clean dry cotton cloth if you want afterwards.( Having said that I do know a lot of people that swear by the newspaper method :-)

If I'm not in the mood to mess about with vinegar (bought in 5L containers via local shop owner from Bookers) I use the Lidl W5 stuff. One thing I'd advise not using at all are silicon spray polishes. Although they give glass a lovely silky feel and make it gleam, they attract dust !
