Which new car for around £12k?
I have had my current motor for approx 10 years and It really is on it's last legs.
The previous car was 6 months old when I got it (It was a Fiat Punto) Overall it has been ok, but I would estimate that it has cost me around £500 a year to maintain the past few years
I am looking get something new and I wondered if anyone had any opinions? I would be planning on keeping hold of it for at least 5-7 years, so something with a good reliability record.
Any suggestion? Also does anyone know of any good offers at the moment.
Many Thanks

They asked about a NEW car for £10k.
Ford Fiesta 1.25 edge are going for under £10k on the road.
The Fiesta has been around since 1976 with the latest being the 8th version.
It`s got a proven track record and is the best selling small hatchback.
There are two cheaper models than the Edge but have less equipment such as aircon.
The link is just a guide price on what`s currently available.

New, depending on your point of view can mean brand new which the OP didn't state, or just a new(er) car.
He mentioned his last car was 6-months old when he brought it which is why I mentioned a 6-18 month old Focus.0 -
If you want trouble-free motoring then get a Honda Jazz. You 'd get a nearly new one for £10K. Lots of carrying capacity and 50 mpg.0

New model Panda out now/soon but the ol one is a cracking deal (getting hard to find now) but at under £6k these shold be a good bargain.
The new Panda was featured on Top Gear looks very neat.
With the older Panda expect to replace wishbones at year 5-6, front shocks at year 4-5 and brakes, discs etc at year 5-6. Apart from that they are solid as a rock and the 1.2 Fire engine is non interferrence if the cambelt goes.0 -
Skoda Fabia - you'd get one of those brand new under £10k.
We bought one in December (not brand new, on an 09 plate) and it's a brilliant little car. Very happy with it indeed. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
If you intend to keep it for 5-7 years then get a new or nerly new Kia as the warranty spans 7 years so not much to worry about, I think GM gives new Vauxhalls warranty for 'Life' or 100k.
For 10k if your annual mileage is large (15k+) I would go for the new Rio with the 1.1 diesel, they say it's good to 85 mpg (probably little less in the real world) and the reviews are very good.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

I second this. I recently bought a brand-new low-spec Fiesta from my local dealer for a price similar to those above. I've got no complaints, and it's usefully larger inside than previous Fiestas. I plan to keep it until it falls apart, so the depreciation-cost associated with buying new will be effectively spread across many years.0 -
For £10k id say take a bit of luxury and get a lexus, although will cost you more to run but pretty much bullet proof toyota reliability.
If not one of those then a honda civic.0
