Freeview v freesat

Are there any additional channels on freeview that freesat don't show?

Thanks

There's a few, but there are loads more channels on Satellite than Freeview
    Look here http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php
and look for Clear(rather than encrypted) and they don't all appear on Freesat which is an EPG.

Agreed, and from my own personal experience, the vast majority are channels that most people would have no interest in watching!

We have both Freeview and Freesat, but because Freeview is built into the TV and our Freesat requires an external receiver, with it's own remote, we don't use it. There's a few different channels, but nothing to get excited about.

  • I agree with everything that has already been said and would like to add that my freesat is weather dependent. I can always tell when it is about to rain since the freesat goes pixellated and finally stops altogether. This does not happen often but the freeview is always there as a back up and always works.
It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.

But note what debitcardmayhem wrote above. This does not list all the satellite channels available to you. That is just the list of the ones on the EPG.
  • We have Freeview, Freesat, and cable. The cable is the very bottom of the range, we keep it mainly for the OD service (record the ones we missed or couldn't record before!). We have the freesat and the cable run into our HD recorder so we can record one while watching the other.

We often find things on freeview to watch on freesat rather than freeview, and vice-versa.

Main reason for having freesat and freeview is, like many others, the weather. Invariably one is better than the other, and if both are bad we have the cable.

We are lucky enough to have both built in with the TV. Good picture on both at all times.

The ones that would be missed on Freesat are Quest and Yesterday.

With Freeview it would be the extra +1 Hrs
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
