paperbag. Not in fridge. This way they tend to dry out which is fine as you can rehydrate them."A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0

Well, this is what I do, take the cellophone off, (if you've bought them that way, that is) and cover with kitchen paper, tucking it down the sides of the mushrooms and keep in the fridge.0

Can u freeze them or do u need to cook first?0

On the continent (you know. . . where they still know how to cook) they slice (raw, of course) mushrooms up and use a needle and thread to string them up to hang and dry.
You can sling them into soups etc just as easily as the fresh ones and the flavour is more concentrated.
Of course, they don't just use the same, boring, old, bogstandard, white things which is all you can buy here here but also ceps, chanterelles, blewitts, saffron milks etc etc etc.0 -
I bought some a couple of days ago for use in my meal plan over the week. At the moment they're starting to sweat in the plastic bag so I need to move them. Can't decide whether I'm best just taking them out of the bag and leaving them loose in the veg rack (worried they'll go shrivelled), just putting them in the fridge wrapped in some kitchen roll or cutting them and storing them in the fridge in a sealed container (probably on kitchen roll as well).
ThanksFluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

Hi there
You're suppose to keep mushrooms in a paper bag in a cool place.
Hope this helps

Tried all sorts with my mushrooms and can never keep them for long. If I think they're about to turn I chop and freeze them.0

I always slice mine up when i buy them and freeze them straight away. They always work ok when used straight out the freezer in recipes. I did try defrosting them once, but they seemed to go a funny slimy brown colour??0

Same here. The bag was full of black liquid - yucky! Now I use them from frozen.0 -
I also chop them up when i get them home and then freeze them. I put them straight from frozen into spag bog, casseroles etc.
They never store very well fresh so i always do this.0
